I don't know if it counts as one who's only 1/3 of that mark, but I vote membership be retroactive

Thanks everyone!

We went to a nearby restaurant for 40th Anniversary Dinner, Part 2. Each of us had a drink and split a chop salad. My wife had the Braised Short Ribs with potatoes and I ordered the Braised Oxtail over risotto. Both were excellent and had to ask for takeout boxes. We saved enough room to split dessert, Ube Oreo gelato.

Gonna wait a bit and then go out for a special occasion smoke.

Coffee now... then a dog walk, then a few errands, and maybe a bit more packing before the real packout starts.

Bought a 4" PVC drain pipe from HD. Laid my rods out, end to end, and wrapped them in bubble wrap and inserted them into the tube. Capped the ends... took it to UPS.

$366 to ship it to Jville!! What in the actual fuuuuuuuuhhdge.

Cheaper than buying 5 new ones at 3-5 hundred a pop. Insured it for 2k. Maybe they'll lose it and I'll get to buy 5 new ones.

The mattress I bought like 3 weeks ago finally showed up along with the same one that I canceled b a couple weeks ago because shipping company (FedEX) lost it but then found it. So now I have two of the same.

Called customer service to try to return the extra one. Said they didn't want it back. They credited my credit card and told me to keep the extra one and dispose of it or donate it. OK, can do that but now I have an extra mattress.

Called a friend who works with battered women's shelters.

They will pick it up tomorrow, free fresh out of the box mattress and frame as a result of FUBR shipping. Sometimes things happen for a reason, I don't question it or challenge it. As a result of some shipping frank up, a third party will have a a new bed to sleep on in this week and hopefully can get a good night's rest away from some A-Hole.

Last component of the kitchen remodel was to be today. Delivery and install of the stove. Wife trusted them to do this basic thing right.

It is at the wrong height & and when the oven door is opened, is scrapes the wall.

Time to pound my head up against one.

Franking home improvement….

We passed inspection. Now we go on a cruise for a vacation. Then demo day on bathroom #2. By the time it is done may be selling the house and moving eastward!

Eastern Iowa would be good for you.
-You've lived on both coasts.
-You owe it to yourself to spend some time in Flyover Country.
-Eastern Iowa is halfway between me and Victor 809infinity.

Compelling, er no?

Right now it is Florida or Texas.

I’ve been to Iowa plenty. Even lived in Omaha. Too cold.

A day of Unexpecteds.

-Friend unexpectedly cancelled our coffee date. A long haul Covid sufferer (9 months in the hospital). Fever and nausea. Figured the nausea was related to seeing me.

-Boss at shpo asked me to come in and work from 8-12. No coffee date, so why not?

-Found out my dad was brought into the ER last night and now in the hospital. Visited him, he’s doing okay.

Stopped at the Farmers Market on the way home. Philly cheesesteak sammich and a couple cigars.

Home, a bottle of Mexican beer and now finally on the couch.

Yup. Gotta pass a Covid test before getting on the ship. Taking the tests now. Video monitored for security purposes.

I forget what their cigar tax is but I recall it being insane.

Morning suno and laggards.

Up at 4 and out by 5 for 5. Last day in the valley of the heat for awhile. We have a wedding to attend in Flagtown. Our niece is getting hitched and then we are going to spend a few days at the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

The north rim is more remote, much harder to get to and therefore a great way to see the canyon without the crowds. The whole north Kiabab plateau is about 8000 feet and thickly forested. Many great hikes from the rim to other lookout points but due to my knee we will prolly not hike into the canyon except to a falls called Thunder River part way down.

I haven't been to this area in 30+ years since I did my second rim-to-rim run in my crazy daz. Hope it is still the same unspoiled beautiful forest I remember from archery hunting trips.

Current of 60... headed to 87. House is so empty it echoes. Some cleanup work to do and a washer/dryer to get sold... and that's a wrap for this part of the adventure.

Coffee now... as soon as the doose drops... dog walk for his doose drop. fog

It is in the works and targeting St Augustine down to Melbourne areas. Just found out my brother bought a house in Fort Myers so he’s retiring and returning. We just have to figure out if we’re going to do a pit stop in Texas first.

Good time with him. He “reminded” me of some of the exploits I led, for which I have only the vaguest of recollections.
How am I alive?

Then I found out a few people who we ran with are not.

Took a bit of the buzz out of the party.

Truck's just about packed for the weekend. 108lbs of butts, 2 WSMs, 300 cans of soda, 300 buns, plates, chafing sets, 4 bags of charcoal, 300 bags of chips, plus stuff to feed 10 dudes for 3 days and my personal stuff.

Floor to ceiling in the back. Passenger floor well filled and a cooler on the seat. Toolbox emptied of a lot of stuff and filled back in with charcoal bags and a case of cheap beer.

Under the toolbox is filled and the bed is full above the siderails with smokers, sodapop, coolers, propane, generator, gas cans. Bought a bed extender to fill to the end of the tailgate and I did it.

This job was so much easier when I had a camper.
