#12, 35. I'm with you guys. I got a box of SC maddies not too long ago. Normally a gamble with an entire box, but at $34 for 25 toros, not a huge risk.

I was pleasantly surprised. Kind of tough to describe the taste (definite barnyard smell to them). Quite good for about $1.45 a stick.

The Mayorgas am good, too. Haven't had a Nestor maddie yet that wasn't plugged.

^I\'ve yet to have one that WAS plugged.....Lucky I guess.

I got a 5er of Oliveros XL maddies that were extremely tight on the draw.....Unfortunate, because I love the flavor.

I think Optimo has, and then there's always Middelton's black and milds.

^ I think Middelton's uses plastic. You're thinking of Swishter Sweets or the old El Productos. Somewhere I read that Elvis used to love those things.

Nope, but I do keep a few loose Havana Classico's in each humi & in the cooler as humidity indicators. If I'm ever unsure about the conditions in the humi, I pinch test one of the Havana Classico's rather than risk cracking the wrapper on the cigars I actually want to smoke.

Pacman:

I smoke all kinds of Nestor Maddies--the ones sold here as well as some firsts and seconds sold elsewhere--and have never had a plugged one (or one I didn't really like for that matter).

However I always store em at least a year before smoking and then dry box them for a few days before setting fire to one.

As a rule I do that for all my smokes and I haven't had any plugged ones in a couple of years. The last plugged smokes I had were the old Bolivar Fuerte Miniatures (one box that had plugged smokes). The new ones (Cofradias) seem fine.

With the one year and dry box method most of the cheapies disparaged around here come to life as well. Today I had a Cremosa Cubano (not maduro, sumatra wrapper) that was very tasty--and almost nobody likes those. :-)

Is this cheap in general or cheap on Cbid? EVERYTHING is cheap on Cbid, so it's a relative thing...
Cheap in general:
Astral Maduro (not amazing, but quite nice and VERY cheap), El Mejor Espresso (Love them!), Don Tomas SE
Cheap on Cbid:
Gurkha Class Regent, 5 Vegas 'A', Sancho Panza (any), Onyx, Gurkha Legend, IT Super Fuerte Maduro.....
There are so MANY!

Try the Indian Tabac Teepee Maduro. it's shaped like a narrow teepee. let them sit 3 or more months and they are an incredible smoke. Only found in the sampler section occasionally they usually sell for 8- 15 bucks for a 10 pack.

FGM, I had a Cohiba Extra Viejo 645 this weekend that I had gotten a while back. While normally not a "cheapo maduro", $14.00 at the B&M, I got these for $35.00 for a 5 pack... let them sit for a month or so and an exceptional cigar... you want me to send ya one???
