Yer bringin' a tear tho the eye of a lifelong 'Mother Earth News' devotee. We used to raise ducks and geese in VERY suburban neighborhood east of Seattle. My brother roasts his own beans, but considering our location, there are too many good places that roast on site to make it worth my while. Kind of like deciding to roll your own cigar in Ybor city or Havana (I've seen a number of kits though). Also you should try the beans they harvest 'indirectly'. Theres someplace where an animal (can't remember if it's a chinchilla, or a flying monkey or something) that eats the coffee cherry and excretes the bean. The natives collect the turd beans, and they go for about 70$ a pound.

Yep... Its called Kopi Luwak and goes for about $110 unroasted. Its a small cat called a paradoxurus that climbs the trees and eats the ripest cherries.

Kopi Luwak sells for $75 per quarter pound ... and one of our esteemed and well respected members here had the courage to try it ...

... that was a year or two ago, I believe!

This thread is almost a year old ... 07/18/2002 ... and fresh roasted, ground and brewed coffee goes well with a good cigar!

I have one with my coffee every morning ...

Lowman just about cleaned me out ... so I ordered (green) some rare Galapagos Island (never heard of it), some Keyna AA and some Puerto Rico 'Yauco Selecto Estate' ...

... if the latter is anything like the Alto Grande I picked up while on vacation ... I'm going to be in heaven!

Well Clinton thought other things went well with a cigar but I don't think it would fall under this board. LMFAO

Usually, I go to SM but there is anther site cmebrewcoffee dot com that is priced lower but does not have as broad of a selection. I roast mine at home on the side burner of my grill in a glass covered sautee pan and after a few ruined batches I have it down. There really is no comparison and now I am spoiled and critical of coffee. Believ it or not I have a coffee tree in my house that is full of ripening beans. I bought it five years ago as a joke and it grew extemely quick. I'll post the review of the first batch.
