I just finished smoking one of the 'Crew', just monents ago ... and I have an entirely different story to tell on this line.
I'm not sure of the size, but it looks to me like a 'fat toro' ... more on the robusto ring size, but longer. Maybe even a gran corona size. I loved the color of the band, a rich blue with baby-blue lettering. It has the familiar sailing ship, with white clouds above, and green water below ...
The construction was impeccable, smooth, with very few veins, and a very solid construction ... not the rustic look of the Full Sail, or el Capitan Reserva, that I've been accustomed to seeing. At first I thought that it was going to be one of those smokes that woould implode the back of my head. The draw was firm, but freely produced plenty of tasty smoke.
As I expected ... this cigar was mild-bodied, but it picked up to more medium-bodied when I got about half way through. It was very smooth ... but every once and awhile, it had a slight bite to it. I was trying to compare it to a cigar that I've had before ... and the closest I could come to ... was that it reminded me of something similar to the La Aurora, with a very pleasant aroma and hints of pepper and cedar in the smoke.
I usually like cigars that pack more punch than this cigar ... but found it very enjoyable, none the less. This would be a great cigar to fire up first thing in the morning, with a good cup of joe, or one to have when you are in the mood for something that's not going 'knock you socks off', when you are not in that sort of mood.
I would give this cigar an overall 7 ... only because I am partial to a more full-bodied cigar. Those who like milder cigars, with a very pleasant flavor profile ... will rate it higher, I'm sure ... and with a MSRP of around $3.60 each, I think Bucanero finally hit on a winner, for those looking for a solid cigar in the lower price range.
