The wife comes home and says we need baby food for the baby. I grab the oldest boy (3) and head to Publix...

It is raining, and some dipshiat has his car parked right in front of the store, forcing all the cars to move around it with the people coming in and out of the store.
I turn and find a spot right in front.

In we go, spend 15 minutes picking up baby food and other stuff, wait in line, come out, and the car is still there!
I get back to the car, start strapping my son in his seat and I see the car owners are back out... So I say a few comments to him..

Nice Parking job..
Your car has been there for 15 minutes..
I am sure all the pedestrians and cars dodging each other in front of the store appreciate it as well...
I know it's raining, but park normal and use an umbrella....

I never cussed, but I was definitely pissed.

So I finish strapping in, jump in, shut the door, look in the mirror, and see the dude shoving something in his pants wasteband behind his back and moving towards me.

Thought 1 : GUN, run him over.
Thought 2 : Get out of the car and meet him.
(I had to back out, and he was 30' from me).

Well, because my son was with me, I just rolled the window down, gave him a stern but respectful reprimand as to why I was upset, and nothing happened.

Am I wrong for being confrontational in the first place?

I guess I am upset with myself because I did that with one of my boys with me. Then again, maybe he saved me from getting shot..

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Sounds nice but I would have reacted as you did. My wife keeps warning me that people have guns.

1. People have gotten killed over less.
2. I try to stay cool when my kid's with me.
3. I shoot back.

I'm with you on this one mrtelcom. The fact that you didn't cuss shows that you did use restraint.

I'm right there with you. I would have struggled keeping my thoughts to myself, but I probably would have. Too many crazy people in this world and you never know how close they are to being pushed over the edge. I try to live by the following motto:

"Dont sweat the petty stuff. Pet the sweaty stuff."

A very similar thing happened to me when I was with a friend of mine. We both train in the same martial art. A guy was parked in front and everyone was walking around his car. When my friend said something to him, the guy got out of his car and started walking towards us. My friend said something that I thought was classic:

"Take another step, and you'll be parking in handicap”

It’s my belief that some of today’s problems are because as a society we let everything slide. It’s okay to take cuts in line, it’s okay to park a car in front while everyone else parks as normal, it’s okay when a group of kids talk throughout a movie. It’s our responsibility as a society to enforce discipline.

That being said, we didn’t have children with us. I’d say you did the right thing because you’re here to tell us about it.

I thought I was the only one this happened to. I typically will try to do something to the unlucky lazy person while they are inside the store, to prevent the confrontation. Keep some paper and pen in the car and leave the moron a note. If the windows are down, leave a present on the seat. It truly is shame the direction this country in going in. You try to teach your children the 'right' things to do, yet maybe we should be teaching then the right way to survive all of the idiots out there.
Great post, thanks

The exact same thing happened to me not long ago.
How did it turn out, you ask?
Let's just say she won't do that again anytime soon....

Sure, people like that can get your dander up...

And sure, we all want to give 'em a piece of our mind...

BUT, my hubby Mike has taught me something about those types of people.

Not only them, but the other people that smack our pet peeves right in the face!

Like the number 1 lane drivers with their heads up there ass.

Or the chick on the phone in the middle lane on a 65 mph road doing 40...

Or the old fart with the ballcap driving the BIG ass grandpa car...eyeballing you 'cause he thinks you are tailgating him when you really aren't...

Let's not leave out the jerk (male or female) at the drive up ATM that is either depositing a zillion items and didn't prefill out the slip, or the one that AFTER the transaction just sits there and puts everything away, puts the seatbelt on and takes there damned sweet time...Personally, I pulled forward to let the next bank customer have access to the ATM...THINK PEOPLE!

Anyway, back to Mike...he has told me to cool it on MANY occassions when encountering these types...he says that they are probably just thinking, "what?"...

Get it? THEY DON'T SEE THE PROBLEM!!! THEY DON'T GET IT!!!

AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

SO, the next time this happens to you...Don't count to 10, just remember my (and Mike's) word:

What....

It puts a whole new spin on things for me...it's a lot easier looking down at the "little" people this way, then it is to look down the barrel of a gun...

I think the problem is that the stupid people are breeding much faster than the smart people.

Cigarick,

You crack me up man!! LOL!!!

My thoughts, just leave it alone. Do I always do that? Not always. In the future? Going to try my best.

The person don't live in my house. More than likely will never see him or her again. But I would like to see my family and friends again. Kind of hard to do that when you take a stupid pill at the wrong time with the wrong person.

You just don't know who you are dealing with.

Now, If I knew them, I would give them a peace of my mind.

E-Chick,
That's exactly the problem. People don't know that what they are doing is inconsiderate/rude/selfish/etc. I think it is important to politely point out how their actions are impacting others (read: pissing everyone off). The emphasis on politely, 'cause when it escalates to an arguement... noone will get the point.
