What America needs is a good five cent cigar.... or a decent $5 billion dollar war! It's kind of expensive to go overseas and stamp out threats before they come flying into any more of our skyscrapers, but speaking as a REALISTIC conservative (don't go there Rick! LOL) I realize that there IS a price to be paid, and not just in the blood of patriots, but in the funds to send them over there, and keep them in ammunition and supplies. I suppose we could send the Marines into Iraq and give them each five bullets (these are all you get so don't shoot them all in one firefight!) But the cost in blood would skyrocket, and the objective would be placed in jepardy. We need to accept the fact we are at WAR! It's like we talk about the war on terrorism, but it's something detached from the public as a whole. I remember reading that the tin drives that gathered up pots and pans during WWII were of no actual value at all, as the pot metal collected was of no military use, but they continued them anyway, because it made the people feel personally involved and invested in the conflict. Maybe that's what we have to do again or something similar, to get the people to realize, and remember that W. said this was going to be a long haul situation, and would probably be going on until our kids might see the end of it. If the people want to gripe about unemployment, bring back the draft, that'll put alot of young men and women who would otherwise be trying to find jobs to work! And they could use thier new jobs to pay taxes to help defray the cost!
