SteveS, my sigh was supposed to appear before your post. It was an "I give up" sigh. Well, he said he was bull-headed. Can we all just agree here?

Well, I tried to make that my last post but you guys keep egging me on.

Steve - please show me in any of my posts where I blamed C-bid for my mistake - I thought so.

Please look for where I admitted that I made a mistake - I thought so.

Here is some food for thought. It sounds like this is a fairly common mistake that is made by bidders. If that is so I'm wondering if c-bid has ever looked into changing how the bidding is done or even how the bid screen is set up so that this problem doesn't occur as often as many of you have told me it does.

I made the mistake once, but was outbidded. So I bid even higher next time and WON!!!

Let us know if you get a box of matches with your overbid (under retail) 5-Pack. Maybe thats what I have to do to get some CBid matches, heheheee?

Uh, p,

The very title of this thread more than suggests that you are blaming CBid for your mistake.

Plabonte ... I know you didn't blame CBid for making the mistake ... and I never said you did blame them ... but you did say they had inferior customer service for not correcting your mistake, which simply isn't the case ... you made a bid on a lot of cigars at a price you were willing to pay ... where's the beef? ... the fact that you intended that to be the ultimate amount you were willing to pay instead of the immediate bid is, to my way of thinking, a small error and one that MANY others here have made ... CBid has offered you a way out ... my take is that you should either graciously accept that magnanimous offer or complete the purchase, but not carry on about the customer service. End of story.

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings -- nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run --
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And -- which is more -- you'll be a Man, my son!

Man, I feel for you. I'm paranoid of doing the same. I usually check and double check my info before submitting just to make sure the same does not happen to me.

Hey, Maybe this will spark some interest in moving the boxes away from each other. Maybe have the Autobid on the left side and the Bid Now on the right side to cut down on human error issues like that. :) Maybe something good can come out of this? :) :)

Hey, Puff, that's a pretty good idea. I agree, the auto-bid should be on the left and the easiest to find so you have to work to make that mistake.

I'm gonna bet that the more it's complicated, the more mistakes will happen ... don't fix it if it ain't broke ... and user error doesn't count as the system being broke.

Don't get me wrong ... I've done it ... many have ... but unless you inadvertantly enter some ungodly gazillion figure bid, where's the beef? As long as you're only entering a figure you'd be willing to pay at max, all you've done is make your eventual bid the immediate bid and increase the odds of losing it or having to pay more
