I was going to stay away from this one...but this is as you stated, "Why is a cop doing a routine patrol with his gun in hand and finger on trigger. "

This is from 2/17/04...

Oops that should say your suggestion of life in prison for an accident is NOT right.

rasdas the guy the opened fire on the two cops could have been an "accident" too, the police spooked him. Why should he be jailed for an accident?

I was just answering the, "Why is a cop doing a routine patrol with his gun in hand and finger on trigger?" question you posed...

He will recieve a trial, and will be judged.

I agree that the Officer should be fired for his actions , or have some other action taken. What I cannot agree with is 65's assumption that all cops are above the law and violate people's rights as a whole.

So 65 you had your rights violated many times by law enforcement? What the heck do you do in every day life that attracts law enforcement attention to you?

Do you know that most everyone goes through life without having more than a passing contact with law enforcement? Maybe a ticket, or to take a report. If you have frequent negative contacts...then I think the problem doesn't lie with the cops, I think it is you.

Judging from your method of posting and your comments: you wake up every morning with a problem, you spend the whole day with one and take it to bed with you.

I think even the most easy going law enforcement official would be pissed off at you after spending a few minutes in your presence. Maybe you should reevaluate yourself and stop acting like some whiny victim of the establishment.

rayder1 after reading your post I was touched and you made me see the error in my ways, from this day on I will become a better man. I would like to thank you for showing me the light.

I also would like to retract all statements I made about the police department, they are faced with a very hard job to do, and all the good they do for this great country more then equals the lives a few children and in the big picture their death is worth it, for the greater good of this nation.

I too think we do need more laws now, im very glad you posted it has saved me many nights of lost sleep.

We as a nation should not question the powers that be, we must obey our leaders and follow their laws and ideas. And if they say the cop is not guilty of anything then that’s how it should be. Im so upset at the way I acted. And chances are that black boy would have become a drug dealer or a rapist eventually or maybe not. Probably an 89 percent chance.

Thank you again for showing me the light.

Yes now that I think about this, what was the little evil **** doing on the roof of his complex to begin with, up to no good I bet, throwing rocks and crap off the roof onto cars, and what ever else the little punks do. Maybe a look out for when the police come to bust the drug dealers on the corner etc.

Get it through your head. The cop was wrong. Okay?
Doesn't lump the whole system into being wrong.

I never thought for a second that my post would have any impact on your attitude. There isn't much out there that will. Doesn't really matter to me. I just like pointing out the obvious.

You have a problem. You are a problem. Eventually you will fade away...maybe get bored here...maybe run your car into a tree...maybe one day someone you run into will get beyond pi$$ed off at you and change your world forever.

Anyway...I'm finished typing to your posts. Dude you're a waste of bandwidth.

The cop was not wrong, it was an accident, that has already been decided, why do you keep saying the cop is in the wrong… as for your insults I have looked to my lord Jesus Christ and found the power in my heart to forgive you my son. All of your rage is going to eat away at you from the inside out. But do not fear, I will be praying for you tonight to feel the wonderful power of our lord Jesus.

God bless

65gtoman,

Where does your hatred of police come from? I have rarely see such hatred as you have exibited here. I am truly shocked.

Before you go casting the first stone, perhaps you should go thru the training and then spend several years as a policeman before you make such harsh comments. Try going to yoru city police and go thru the citizens police academy and then do some ride-alongs with the police. Perhaps you will see what they go thru every single day of theri life. Every day they strap on a bullet proof vest, with every traffic stop, every house call they make they do not know whether they will make it back alive or not. The police are under more stress than any other job in the world including our armed forces. Perhaps a little grace is due to our Protectors.

I have a brother who is a police officer and have heard some of his radio calls back to headquarters for help when he pulled over a van and out flew three young adults with handguns. It is not an easy job at all.

I am not defending the police in this particular case, but don't you think that calling them pigs and saying to gut them is a little overboard?

As the Lord said, "let those without sin cast the first stone."

I do not hate the police, in fact I love our protectors of the law and this great country, and they are all children of Christ.

Who are we to judge the higher powers that are doing the work of Christ, Im a firm believer that our lord Jesus works through our government officials and that everything happens for a reason. Christ’s reason.

The only thing that this policeman is guilty of is being an instrument of our lord Jesus.

Again I am so sorry for the way I acted and pray for forgiveness from our heavenly father, he has shown me the light and I also beleve that this poor innocent policeman that I have called a pig so many times before should be brought back to active duty if that has not been done already and given a metal for bravery, because we as simple citizens have no understanding of the stress and hardships of being a policeman takes on the human soul.

God bless this instrument of our lord Jesus. And God bless you and all the people of the world.

Speaking as a police officer I can honestly and sadly say that some of the attitudes here are why this job can be as challenging as it is. But then again, what do I know, I'm just an above the law, murderous pig, eh 65?

I don’t know you, I could not say

How long have you been a cop?
Are you a cop in a city?
Do you have any complaints against you?
Have you shot or beat anyone in self defense or other?
Have you yourself heard or seen any fellow policemen violate anyone’s rights, plant evidence or do a search without probable cause?
Do you read all suspects their rights Every time?

Of course I've done all the wrong things, all police have and do, right? Just like any career, if anyone messes up all of them are bad. Makes perfect sense to me.
When I die I'll be able to look back on my career and be proud of all the things I've done and people I've helped. That's enough for me. Too bad though some have to assume all are bad based on the actions of a relative few.
Whatever.

65GTO,
You need to chill. I have never beaten anyone, or violated their Civil Rights. I have done my job to the best of my ability and try to stay consistent with the way I handle people. Some times it is hard other times it is easy, but I will say you have a twisted view of law-enforcement.

I feel sorry for the next sob you guys see in a gto lol

But seriously, I owned a bar back in the 80s and many cops came in, I would have after hour party’s and hear stories of what many of them did, you know people love telling the bartender things. I have also witnessed many crimes committed by the police. I have seen the corruption first hand, stuff that I would not want to say to this day in a public forum. I would go to the police (in crowd) parties they would have on the weekends and they were the best, man, you could do anything you wanted and the cops would join in the fun with you.

I don’t believe all cops are bad, but I would say over 25% of them should not be police officers.

You guys can’t sit there and tell me you never witnessed a violation of somebody’s rights by a fellow officer.

I have seen a police officer beat a guy that is handcuffed in the back of a patty wagon repeatedly smash the back of the mans head into the wall.

One time I seen a cop pick up a dead cockroach off the floor and try to force it into a mans mouth because the guy didn’t want to give his name.

Just to name a few things that I feel comfortable saying over the internet. Hell the good stories im leaving out.

As for a motive for of me speaking like this, I can say, I served no jail time nor been convicted of any crime. hell I never even had a dwi, I been dragged to the station on tromped up charges after having my own rights violated (in a different town), I have heard and witnessed many rights violated and seen police themselves committing crimes. I would say it’s the second most corrupted job right next to the politicians.

Im sure you guys are good cops, hell I wish Cavallo would be the cop who pulls me over next time.

Like I said some of the best times I had in my life was with a bunch of corrupted cops. Also some of the worsted times lol

That was many years ago, im sure things have changed for the better, more restrictions etc.

Not all cops are bad or more then a few are.

Agreed, and I'm glad to hear you say it. Most are good, but unfortunately some are bad. The bad ones tend to be the only ones you hear about too. Trust me though, many more of us are out there doing our best and doing a good job.
