1) '86 Tacoma Dome WA - The Who
They were amazing this night and played for almost 4 hours.
2) '89 Brendan Byrne Arena NJ - Springsteen
Bruce on the 4th in New Jersey, Nothing better
3) '76 Madison Square Garden - Led Zepplin
Last major Zep tour in their prime.
4) '75 Palladium, (NYC) - Springsteen
Bruce in a small intimate arena befor the fame
5) '75 Lafayette, Easton PA - Jethro Tull
Best Tull show I ever saw, right after War Child
6) '76 Englishtown NJ - Greatful Dead
over 100,000 deadheads!!
7) '75 Seattle Ctr. Colusseum - Yes
The most amazing laser show and stage set
8) '98 St. Michelle Winery - Yes
Cool because we got to sit in the center in the second row after spending some time with Alan White (Drummer) at a party a month earlier.
9) '92 Desert Inn LV - Sinatra
Drinking real booze and smoking real cigarettes.
10 tie) '88 Kingdome - Madonna
Best dancing in a rock concert I ever saw
10 tie) '77 Duke Univ NC - Santana
Well Carlos was amazing and so was that wild woman from South Carolina who I made out with the whole concert, but never saw again ever

Honorable Mention - Saw Frampton & Lynyrd Skynyrd in Veterans stadium in Philly in 78. Fleetwood mac in the same venue. Heart in AsbUry Park NJ in 78 was cool cause we partied with the band before the show. Todd Rundgren in the Paramount(Sea, WA) a few years back and Yes in sam venue were the best shows I saw there. Cheap Trick in Allentown PA, Jefferson Startship in Seattle in the late '70. Loved Bruce Hornsby at the Zoo in Seattle but the outdoor concert was rainy. BB King... wow now that was the blues personnified!!! And I've seen good concerts from Bowie, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Bob Seeger and the Police.

Seen well over a hundred concerts not to mention dozens of classical concerts and opera. I've performed in quite a few too. I'm singing in a concert of Opera Choruses on Friday in Kirkland, WA. (Kirkland Choral Society, (KCS)). KCS is a major hoot of an extra ciricular activity for me right now.

Amazing how many of these shows listed above I've seen. A few to add to the list in no particular order:

1. Dylan Band - Reunion Tour 1974 LA Forum. Saw all 3 shows. For $9.50 (outrageous at the time) I was in the 3rd row center.

2. Spirit of '76 tour Memphis, w/ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws, Marshall Tucker Band and somebody else I forgot. Snuck a bottle of 151 in and had a good old time!

3. Yes, Memphis 1974 In QUAD with an incredible laser show. Years ahead of everybody else.

4. Watkins Glen, NY July 1973, The Dead played for 5 hours and the Allmans for four! The last giant concert until the US Festival.

5. California Jam - Ontario, California, April 1974, ELP ,Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Black Oak Arkansas, Earth, Wind & Fire, & the Eagles. Ritchie put his guitar neck deep into a color camera and lost money on the gig.

6. US Festivals I & II, 1982-83 San Bernadino Ca. Day one of the '82 festival had the Gang of Four, The Ramones, The English Beat, Oingo Boingo, The B-52's, Talking Heads and The Police. In '83 the lineup was much stronger across all 3 days with Divinyls,INXS, Wall of Voodoo, Oingo Boingo,The English Beat,Flock of Seagulls, Stray Cats, Men At Work and the Clash just on the first day! Day 2 continued with Heavy Metal featuring Quiet Riot,Motley Crue,Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest,Triumph,Scorpions, and Van Halen (DLR)

7. David Bowie - The Tower Theater Philadelphia 1972/73 the Ziggy Stardust tour. 4 shows in Nov/Dec 72 and 7 in Feb 73. David and the Spiders at the top of their game.

8. The Stones, July 1972 Madison Square Garden. 16 songs of perfect rock.

9. Neil Young & Crazy Horse, 1970, Electric Factory, Philly. The days of 20 minute guitar solos (Down by The River lasted 30 minutes). Neil with something to prove.

10. Cream, December 1968, Spectrum Philly. Spectrum sounds like crap but who can resist 35 minutes of "Crossroads". I'm so Glad, Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Toad, they don't make them like that anymore. Jack Bruce on Lead Bass fighting with Clapton for the solos.

11. Jimi Hendrix Feb 1968, The Electric Factory, Philly. Woody's Truck Stop w/ Todd Rundgren was the opener. A friends older brother got us in to help clean after the shows (for free!) If you came early you could watch from the side of the stage. I'm still amazed 36 years later.

12. I've seen the Dead 56 times, it's all good.

13. The Who, Quadrophenia Tour, Nov 1973 LA Forum. In Quad sound! The party continued at Rodney Bingenheimer's English Disco with Keith having a meat pie fight.

14. Kiss, Cobo Arena, Detroit Jan 26, '76. My birthday and I was being transfered from CA to NC. Stopped in to see a buddy from the Corps and he treated me to this. Better than I expected by far.

15. Ozzy, July 1981, Paramount Theater Seattle. Motorhead opened and later after the show I ran into Lemmy at bar down the street, he kicked my ass in darts and I bought him at least a sixpack.

Thanks for letting me wander down memory lane, sorry it's so long.

The Jesus Lizard @ Metro
Ramones/Iggy Pop @ Aragon Ballroom
Jeff Beck/Stevie Ray Vaughn @ UIC Pavillion

Jeff and Stevie dropped by Buddy Guy's Legends club after the concert. My wife and I went there on a hunch and caught that show too...incredible.

Hmmmmm .......what was my favorite concert ?
that's a tough one since they've been pretty much all good ones. once i hit high school i was also going to concerts at $6 to $10 a ticket ( boy are those day's gone ! ).

no specific dates as these were mostly in the early 80's but i do remember going to see:
Ac/Dc 5-times....original members and with young as singer.
Pink Floyd "The Wall" and "Division Bell"
Journey ( in thier peak )
Boston (excellent anytime !!)
Greatful Dead (3-times)
Aerosmith
Kansas,Blue Oyster Cult , Styx, Heart ,CheapTrick , Molly Hatchet and Marshall Tucker Band and some no-names in a three day event.
Bob Seager live silver bullett
Jackson Brown , James Taylor and Peter Frampton .
Kiss ( before the face paint came off !! )
Rush in canada ( the best !)
The Who ( back in 85 i think it was )
The Rolling Stones ( i felt they were "over-rated")
and countless others that deserve mention !! that i can't list them all !

ones i wish i could have seen but was unable too.......well of course
Woodstock 1 !!! goes without saying
The Beatles (together , i was born in 1964 ) i saw Paul McCartney "Wings Across America" and for the "Flowers in the Dirt" tour.
Doctor Hook and The Medicine Show ( That would be a great show )

The Eagles were better before they broke up....in concert that is. i saw them in high school before they split and then again for "Hell freezes Over" tour.

Favorite one ???
when you've seen alot , it's hard to pick just one !!
Kansas has some awsome energy in thier members
Pink Floyd the wall was totally outstanding with thier light show as was Rush in Canada
but shows that everybody sings along and the Band members are astounded by it....just gives you chills !!
i still get chills when i hear Lovin,Touchin,Squeezin by Journey......the first time i saw that in concert Steven Perry was singing it and just sort-of stopped....looked around the crowd and raised his arms in appreciation.....like they couldn't believe thier following they had !
and there are a few groups like that......ones you know alot of thier songs Steve Miller , Jimmy Buffet , Journey and the list goes on.............
But when the singer stops , the band play's on and the singing is all around you bouncing off the rafters above...and the singers left there smiling.....
now that's a concert ! true appreciation for the music they wrote !!!

i can't pick just one.....there are too many with some real good shows !

It's hard to pick "the best".

The Grateful Dead in NY just before the Europe 72 Tour.
The Dead, The Allman Bros. and The Band at Watkins Glen
Joe Cocker during the Mad Dogs and Englishmen days
Little Feat 2 months before Lowell George's death
Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen at The Bottom Line in NY
Jethro Tull Passion Play Tour in Pittsburgh
The Newport in NY show at Radio City Music Hall. My friends Uncle is a big wheel there and We went in through the stage entrance, met many performers, and sat in the front row.
Bonnie Raitt at The Rainbow Music Hall and at Red Rocks Park with Randy Newman.
Johnny Winter at The Rainbow and at The Boulder Theater
The Stones Some Girls Tour in Boulder
Buckwheat Zydeco's show at last years' Black Potato Festival in NJ
J.Geils Band after the release of Full House before the MTV trash

The longer I sit here the more come to mind. If I had to chose one I think it was one night in a little club in Denver, now long gone. It was basically a downtown storefront turned into a club. Three rows of seats facing the stage. I had seen Muddy Waters at Lincoln Center with James Cotton and HoundDog Taylor, a very large hall. This night in Denver the club was so intimate if You got up to use the restroom You had to be careful not to bump into the performers on the way. Muddy was incredible. And, unbelievably, the second show barely sold any tickets so anyone already there was invited to stay till closing. Huge events like The Stones or The show at Watkins Glen were fun but no comparison to seeing a Legend still in His prime in so intimate a venue.
