This is kind of a continuation of my prior post, but wanted to take on all these people and their statements about the risks involved with smoking. heg, did you know only 10 to 15% of even cigarette smokers develop cancer, so I don't even buy your thought that one cigar a day will likely lead to throat or mouth cancer, and if I inhaled, which I don't I would not consider it likely to get lung cancer either. I am not going to 2 -3 a week, one cigar a day, and I challenge anyone to find me any objecitive medical report that has linked one cigar a day to health problems, the best I have seen that they could do were for a person smoking three cigars a day and inhaling. I think a person's diet is much more important and more of a concern than a cigar a day. Also in Greece, the population has one of the highest rates of cigarette smoking in the world, and also one of the lowest rates of lung cancer, but also their population eats the highest rate of fruit, diet folks, that is key. Why in the past did the Japanese live longer but are heavy smokers? Until lately on the whole their diet was very healthy, but in recent years their diet has changed for the worse, and cancer is becoming much more common there. Obesity was eventually pass smoking as the leading cause of death in this country, a medical report last week had it very close. I would suggest more deaths could be attributed to obesity as often a fat person that smokes and has a heart attack may have his death attributed to smoking. If you are in your 30's and way overweight, I would suggest you smoke all the cigars you want, for your weight and diet will kill you before the cigars have a chance to do any damage. Personally I need to lose about 20 pounds to be at my optimal weight and eat better!

I probably won't die from smoking, but I probably would die from the stress of worrying about smoking.
So I light up a nice cigar and relax.

There's nothing to "buy" because I am not/was not selling anything. I didn't post about the evils of tobacco, nor did I claim to be a cancer specialist.

And regarding your statistics, statistics can be used to prove anything, 74.7% people know THAT.

And for the record, I posted that at 4:16am. YOU try to be coherent at THAT time in the morning.

You guys must be democrats, as you can "bend" statistics to show anything you want them to show and prove! I will smoke my cigars and enjoy them, and I will not worry about cigarettes, eating red meat or just enjoying myself in order to be super healthy! Hell, living in California it is silly to worry about something like cig smoke, since the damn air is bad enough to kill us anyway! Charlie

Does anybody know someone who died as a direct result of Cigar Smoking? Maybe George Burns, but once you reach 100 somethings gotta give.

Fat is such a dirty word. Couldn't we say nutritionally challenged?

Let's not get the Political Correctness game of making words less objectionable be a part of this forum. Fat is fat......nothing more, nothing less and cigars are great, nothing more and certainly nothing less! Charlie

Couldn't we say Portly or Rotund? Husky, or Of Large Girth?

or tub of lard. Look I am not a health nut, I don't eat tree bark and alfalfa sprouts so I can smoke cigars in a clean conscience, nor do I twist statistics, I didn't even bring up statistics, I only mentioned the results of a medical study of smoking in Greece. I am saying that in my opinion there is little harm to be had in smoking cigars in moderation, and that there is much more harm in being obese. I like a huge big steak super rare, cold in the middle, as much as the next guy, and won't stop eating red meat along with the fat on the trimmings, my wife should be more worried about that than my cigar smoking. I would just like to lose a few pounds is all.

I could step off a curb and get hit and killed by a bus so I'm gonna have a few extra cigars tonight!

Well I guess that make me the resident health nut, then. Up until knee surgery in April, I ran about 5 miles a day, went to the gym three times a week, and (for the most part) was always careful about my diet, and MAYBE have a six pack a year. Last physical has me in great shape. So do I worry about cigars?? I searched everything I could find about a year ago and most studies conclude that if you smoke 5 or less cigars per week without inhaling, your risk for cancer is no greater than the rest of the non-smoking population. Smoking more than five per week, adding alcohol, and inhaling increases your chances of course. LIGHT ONE UP AND ENJOY!!!
