Ah, another one who says he was just being sarcastic to show how easy I am. Wish I had a cigar for every time someone says that. It's said more than I make religious threads. Obsessed they are.

No wonder gambling is considered a sin by many Christians. They have an unfair advantage because all they have to do is pray and their team would win every time. That's smart. Good thing god did that.

You should come out to a herf sometime and meet some of the people who are part of this community instead of just provoking and trolling from the confines of your couch. Try participation. Try to be a contributing member. There are a lot of good people here and none of them are responsible for your predicament.

As a tip for next time when you see some article that gets your "dander" up, at least copy and paste the title correctly in the thread. Relax, take a few breaths, and get it right.

Yes! Now all I gotta do is call one of you ignorant and I'll get a 'I know you are, but what am I?' If we're lucky Godwin's law might even be invoked.

Dave,
Those who think that Christianity is all about receiving blessing and “stuff” from God, have no concept of true Christianity. It’s how we react when we lose our job, our home, or when there is no food on the table, that is the test of real faith. We will know if Tebow’s faith is real, by how he reacts when or if he loses.

Throughout my life I have had times of abundant blessing, and times of great need. The secret (which I still have trouble living) is learning to be content in all situations. As Paul said “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” It’s a shame that the average “Christian” knows the last part of that verse, but have no concept of what precedes it.

Well said. True faith builds patience and endurance through the stuff you mentioned. (Romans 5:3-4) Looks like I should be doing a few more "Tebows," as it seems this year will be a year of personal testing.

Handling adversity well is not exclusive to Christians. There are millions, hell billions of people who can do that without the aid of your particular religion. What you are explaining here is a crutch that people use to level themselves off psychologically and find peace, not the only 'answer'. If it works for you, brilliant, enjoy it. Telling other people they're method is ineffective or wrong and attempting to push your view through legislation is arrogance of the highest order.

Bottom line: Believe what you want to believe.....I believe in a God but I don't go to church. And, I do things to help myself as well rather than relying on God to do things for me. I've had times of sheer enjoyment and extremely painful times.

People survive on their belief system whether it involves a God or not. Is Tebow being helped by God? Who the hell knows for sure....if he believes his God is helping him, good for him. If not, no harm done. If it bothers people, that's their problem, not Tebows. Why even worry about such things....sheeesh......

You're also quite arrogant.This is a first.......an arrogant waterhead.

You should only care about others belief's if in fact you are trying to convince them you are right and they are wrong. Please explain to me why an agnostic would care what someone else believes????????Are you prosthelytizing atheism?????

Hold on a second...did I tell you that your method was ineffective or are you telling me my method is ineffective? Think

And if saying a little prayer or reading a verse from the bible for a little guidance is a "crutch," so be it. I'll take the crutch, and hopefully it will help before I need the stretcher. Wink

Holding.

I did not telli you either of those things. But I did assume you agreed with the post you responded to with 'well said' when it said that Paul had the 'secret' and quoted the Bible. If not then, well, I apologize but it seemed clear you did.

I never said you weren't allowed your crutch, we all have them. But your solution, even if it might work for you, does not mean everyone responds the same way. Besides there are too many different religious crutches that people find work for them so either no religion is correct and it's just the psychological need for self worth or they are all correct. I'll let you decide which is more logical.

No need to apologize. I understand suspending logic and reasoning for the feeling of specialness. I've seen it all my life and not just in Christians. Everyone does it in one way or another. I draw the line at invisible, conscious beings because I just can't picture having everything pre-ordained by an omnipotant being that cares for me so much he's willing to send me to hell if I don't believe in him. To each his own.

Fuzz: There may be dozens of different religions but it doesn't mean any are necessarily right or wrong. Maybe there is one big God that is the same for all religions. And, maybe this God says "As long as they believe and worship, I won't condemn them because they are Baptists or Mormons or Jews, etc. As long as they are doing good, I'm happy."

Could happen...no one really knows for sure...

Certainly a theological question, but one that I no longer want/need to contemplate as I've completed my personal religious analysis and rejected it. At this point I only care about when people attempt to infringe on me or the country with restrictions or activities that are in support of their personal religious beliefs. I don't contemplate phrenology either.

And, I don't want someone running this country who doesn't believe there is more than what we see. They have no right shoving their non-belief off on me - it works both ways. Welcome to America - that's how we roll here!ll. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - some are more reasonable than others....

You see politicians proposing policies that force you to not believe? Seriously?

Also, I'm certain the requirement that someone 'believe' in a god has a lot of exceptions too.

I very rarely provoke fuzzy. I've even sided with him. I was just bored the other day and thought i'd stir the pot. I honestly thought he'd recognize I'm not one who normally does that to him and for awhile I thought he was playing along. I didn't realize that his persecution complex runs so deep. I missread the situation and apologize. Next time I will be more careful.
