"Government is not the solution to our problem.Government is the problem."

Ronald Reagan 1/29/1981

"Only government can break the viscious cycles that are crippling our economy."

Barrack Obama 1/8/2009

Which ones philosophy is more akin to your own?????

Me..................I voted the very first time in 1980 by absentee ballot aboard the USS Mckean DD-784.President Reagan won,I got my wish,I was more than satisfied over his 2 terms and I've never once regretted my decisions.

Those of you that voted Obama.....In all honesty can you say the same???

Yes. Loved Reagan. I really liked daddy Bush too.

Times seemed different then. Both actually worked with the other side while not betraying their principals (although some will say daddy bush did and I suspect that was the beginning of the BS we are in). Now working with the other side IS betraying your principals.

My first vote went for Tricky ****** in '72 but the alternative was McGovern. All my felllow long haired, bearded buddies went the McGovern commie route.

I'm with you, Ron. He wasn't perfect but I never regretted voting for the Gipper. In fact, I was sorry to see him go. Would have voted for him again and again too even though I think he was suffering from the beginnings of alzheimer's.

I voted for Bush senior too but he was a political horse of a more calculated manner. Less principled than Reagan, more of a compromising wheeler dealer. Made a deal with Democrats to raise revenues & then they left him holding the bag at election time. That's what got him in trouble with the voter. I also didn't care for his one world agenda using our money and soldiers but that's another story. Maybe he just wanted to get out of the house more & away from Barbara & son, Alfie E. Newman.

If the other side is always wrong ,no need to "work with them"

And,
The modern definition of " working together" in DC is the Repubs always have to cmpromise, not the Dems

I think the primary reason Bush I didn't get re-elected is that we came out of a recession after the election, rather than before the election as had been forecast.

Just pointing out a stark contrast in politics........from one end of the spectrum to the other.

As you know most true conservatives look to Reagan for guidance..........I really wasn't sure who liberals look to.......My bad.

Most presidents of late have won re-election despite dips in the economy at the tail end of their terms. What sunk HW Bush was the "SEE MY LIPS- no new taxes" vow that he reneged on later with collusion from the Democrats & the drain of Independents from his base by Ross Perot. He also performed poorly in the debates in part distracted by Jug Ears (Perot). Ozone handled Potatoe easily enough as well.

Shame on you Shame on you

Do a little study on how a governor from the dead last state in the union topples a President with an over 65% approval rating with the help of 2 airports...Mena & Willow Run.

Have fun!

BS -- both sides choose to entrench rather than work together.

During the Bush II years, the republicans attempted to make the then-current estate tax law with a $3.5 million exemption, adjusted for inflation, permanent rather than expiring 12/31/09. Dems blocked the efforts. In December of 09 during Obama's first year, the Dems proposed and the house passed the exact same proposal and the senate republicans blocked it. Reps spent almost 10 years trying to pass that law, and then when the Dems propose the same thing, the Rep voted no simply because they did not want Obama to get credit for it.

I voted for Obama and I am satisfied with his performance. I will vote for him again in hopes that he will continue the good work.

You just squat and watch – he’ll get the second term. And the GOP won’t even be able to field a Ham Sammich to run against him.

I don't think if he wins a second term they will need to run against him again unless he just ignores the rules and stuff.

As for the ham sammich it's unneccessary since most of us lose our appitite when we see him.

1980, and for Reagan was my first time voting as well, and I never voted in a Pesidential election again from 1988 until 2008 because I never saw anyone that impressed me as much. I voted in 2008 not because McCain impressed me that much, but Obama scared me that much! (I was right to be scared)

That's because there may be no more free elections after that were to happen.

No, Executive Orders are the new way to govern!

Why try to ram something through the Legislative Branch?

Much easier to just stroke a pen and make it so!

That's THE CHICAGO WAY!
