We all benefit from cheap labor and goods from China also. How is that working out?

All things being equal, well in the short run. In the long-run, I don't know.

But, since Chinese labor is cheaper and U.S. companies cannot compete as a result, might that theoretically increase demand for U.S. illegal immigrant labor as manufacturers try to reduce their labor costs in an effort to remain competitive?

Negative. It just means at least one person in your supply line is or was, which is exceptionally likely.

Nobody in my supply line was an illegal. I shop and dine at far better places than you do.

Sixty-two percent of Americans now favor providing a way for illegal immigrants in the U.S. to become citizens, an increase from just 50 percent in the summer of 2010, the last time the AP polled on the question.

In an even earlier poll, in 2009, some 47 percent supported a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
...

A majority in the GOP — 53 percent — now favor the change. That's up a striking 22 percentage points from 2010. Seventy-two percent of Democrats and 55 percent of independents like the idea, similar to 2010.

Thoughts?

It's AGAINST the law.

Why are we allowing the laws to be altered for those that are savaging our nation?

Or, more likely you buy 'European'. Why'd anyone want to go there legally, much less illegally.

Speaking of European, Europe is being overrun by desperate illegals & the Third World.
Spain, a relatively small country that had less than 39 million people and 26% unemployment (over 50% among youth) has over half a million Ecuadorians alone. Germany is inundated with Turks and New Algeria, er France, fuhgetaboutit. Same with tiny (8 million?) Greece which is on the cusp of a barter economy. Greece has been designated the collection processing warehouse for Third World immigrants being processed into the EU.

I guess we're all coming together. Time to embrace even if you have to grin and bear it because the alternative can be far worse.

For all the benefits that illegals bring into being here in the U.S., there are too many other factors that negate any benefits of letting them stay here. The U.S needs to toughen existing laws and enforce them as they should. Harsher penalties should reduce the number of illegals entering the country.

Not everyone has benefited from cheap illegal labor. It is too broad an assumption.

I agree. For example, high priced labor has not benefitted from cheap labor.

They left everything they know to try for a better life. Isn't that the attitude we want around here? Give them citizenship and let them pay taxes so they can help support the millions of Americans who don't want to work hard.

I agree. Borders shouldn't exist anymore and we should all have the same standard of living. It's only fair.

We USED to enforce laws

We USED to screen immigrants for disease

Now we have decades old diseases reviving and those "hard working" folks have little desire to assimilate and the sexual crime rate among hispanics in this neck of the woods is very high compared to other groups.

You're such a good kid, Z.
Just born too late... Don't know how to break it to you but everything's upside down these days and not likely to get better any time soon.

Pretty great actually. We get a ton of stuff for far cheaper than we could make it ourselves, and we've completely neutered the single largest political threat to our national security. They are so dependent on us that they cannot do anything that would upset our economy.

A ton of S H I T that ends up in our landfills more like it, s h i t we could ALL do without

Really???? Why is it they're spending so much building their military / Navy ??? Oh that's right they wouldn't use it against us.....not the US who willingly GAVE AWAY their economy to the Chinese!!!

Frankly I think we're the ONLY ones who've been neutered.....

Dang Jamie, you should know better then to criticize Wheel's undocumented worker. If it wasn’t for Pedro, he'd have to mow his own lawn, clean his own pool, and service his own old lady. When would he ever get to watch Gold Rush?

Well you know how guys from Texas can be......

Bill with all due respect READ what I wrote.

If you think diseases that were long ago eradicated in the US isn't a result of lax screening/security than you're not as smart as I give you credit for.

As far as my statements on sexual crimes as I said READ what I wrote. "In this neck of the woods".

Maybe that pecker of yours is draining too much blood from your brain.
