on another post someone mentioned heston and i didn't want to change the subject of the post and be accused of threadjacking even though the word has a certain ring to it.

having been in my business for 35 years, a lot of my clients have developed the disease.

fortunately for the one who has it, it doesn't bother them much. they are in another world and are comfortable with it. they will say something like "i can't remember what i was doing or where i was going" or something to that effect. in a minute they have forgotten the incident and are off doing something else.

unfortunately the spous or cartaker has most of the problems keeping the patient protected from himself. one of my old friends will leave the house and walk to the mall. his wife didn't hear the door bell ring that is hung to let her know he is leaving. he usually ands up at a mall where security knows him and they call the wife and then drive him home. he wasn't the least concerned, but the wife was scared out of her wits.

bless the spouse or caretaker that will continue with the task instead of shipping the person off to a home.

I know they've kept very guarded, but does anyone know how Reagan is?

On Reagan's last birthday, they showed a brief newsclip of him. They put a cake in front of him and clapped. He had his Reagan smirk on, but didn't budge or acknowledge anything going on around him. Didn't look like he was doing very well.

Rik, I must disagree completely. My mother has it, and she is very angry about it and still goes to such pains to try to prove to people she is fine. She is a published author and board member of many art museums around the country and very proud, and getting more frustrated and angry, anymore she won't even shower now unless forced to and never changes clothes. My dad who is 80 is as stubborn as a mule and it took a full year before my sister and I could convince him to have someone come to the house three times a week to help out. He had to move his office home and can't ever leave the house without her, but the person staying there will really help out. My sister and I have been visiting some homes to find one suitable for my mom when the time comes, but we don't dare tell my dad as he would go ballistic if he new we were doing that.
