I follow your point but do not agree with it. As part of the upper middle class any time a new tax is enacted I pay it, such as the 2% tax for ACA. If Democratics are in office I pay more for the poor. If Republicans are in office my money bails out the rich. So every time I see a new program I cringe because I expect to pay more taxes.
Right, I hear you. The middle class shoulders far too much of the burden, while corporate welfare and tax breaks for the rich are given priority.
But the answer is not under funding social programs. Although in the end that is often what happens....
