Just reading Drafter's post on high speed internet. Seems like every week there is a new way to redistribute our money to the poor with something they would like to have. Wonder when we will be the Unites Socialist States of America?

So you don't believe in personal responsibility? Taking care of one's self, and one's own affairs?

I believe in charity. But it shouldn't be coming from the federal government.

What I choose to do to help the poor should be my choice and is called charity. The government imposing it's will on me is called Totalitarianism.

I take no issue with that Speyside other than Totalitarianism is a bit of a stretch. So you would ****can medicaid, medicare, social security etc? i honestly would give thought to doing so. There will always be some in here that say they pay for such things but it is redistribution and entitlement at it's finest.

The long term and ongoing redistribution of wealth way from the middle and lower class, and in the hands of the 1%’s has been accelerating this past decade. I saddens me to read someone carping about the working poor getting bigger crumbs.

I see your view Speyside, but you’re fighting against your own class….

I follow your point but do not agree with it. As part of the upper middle class any time a new tax is enacted I pay it, such as the 2% tax for ACA. If Democratics are in office I pay more for the poor. If Republicans are in office my money bails out the rich. So every time I see a new program I cringe because I expect to pay more taxes.

You obviously have no idea of what a dictatorship is or you have again forgotten those meds.

Right, I hear you. The middle class shoulders far too much of the burden, while corporate welfare and tax breaks for the rich are given priority.

But the answer is not under funding social programs. Although in the end that is often what happens....

Just remember, the rich are getting much richer and their tax burden is at a much lower percent than it was in the last 60 years. The poor are still poor or poorer and the middle class is treading water.

Exactly his point... the middle class is treading water because they're the ones funding the God forsaken social programs.

The poor contribute nothing, and the rich get all the damn breaks.
