Last week I tried to get everyone in step and have only one bidder per day so they could get really cheap smokes... needless to say I couldn't get any cooperation with this excellent plan so I have a new idea!
Why don't you provide cigars "on approval"? I think that it would be a great boost in moving inventory. It could work very simple...
1)Offer all cigars... especially boxes... on approval to any bidder who posts a $1.00 bid
2)Ship them at a nominal charge... say $1.00 for overnight delivery...that way they will arrive fresh and in the best condition for the bidder to properly evaluate the smoke
3)Allow the bidder to smoke as many as they need to evaluate the quality of the cigar... this may take the entire box at times
4)Once the bidder has smoked enough of the box to evaluate the quality of the cigar they would be on a honor system to submit their bid payment in the currency of their choice... or possibly even trade cigars one for one with some less desirable sticks they may have lurking in their humidor... who knows someone else may love them
5)If they don't like the smokes then cbid can issue a UPS pickup (at their expense of course since the smokes obviously were no good and you wouldn't want to stick a customer with bad smokes!)....this obviously would not be needed if either #4 has occured and the bidder pays or within step #3 the bidder was required to smoke the entire box to properly evaluate the cigars.
I realize that on the surface this plan would appear to have many drawbacks from cbid's perspective but just remember the volume selling principle:
Lose a little bit on every sale but the volume will make up for it!
