To learn about the Catholic faith and to get a better education than what the public schools provided. Also, the Catholic school is located at the end of my block, my kids didn't have to cross a street to get there.
The oldest boy went to Catholic HS for one year and public school for three years. No trouble, was a star athlete, went to college, and is now a cop and a member of the south Suburban Swat Team. Same experience for the younger one, he's in his last year of college.
BTW, we only go to church for weddings and funerals.

As far as if I would keep my son out of harms way?
I don't have the money to buy things like that, if I did, maybe I would.
