Snopes seems to cut right down to truth without agenda and debunks false claims on crazy stuff from all ends of spectrum. I have never seen challenge of their findings. If there is case where they were wrong I really want to see it because it would concern me as I don't look to them to validate my opinions.

Now back to the Muslims and the clams. Yes and no. It seems that the devout do not believe shellfish should be eaten, while many (presumably not so devout) do eat shellfish.

kosher and halal are very similar

I'd assume clams are off limits as unclean foods, bottom feeders etc are forbidden.
