What states rights = states wrongs?

It was the states that pushed and fought for the end of slavery, the fed gov't was sanctioning it and the S.C. was ruling for it.

Protectionism? That is what helped to bring on the great depression. You think that if we start slapping tariffs on things, other countries won't retaliate with their own tariffs? Go look at a history book.

More Green initiatives? Like those that fostered the likes of Solyndra and $500 mil down the drain?
Green energy is fine, but don't put coal miners out of work and jack up heating prices on granny with policies that hamper and raise costs on energy producers. Why do you hate granny?

If green energy can stand on its own, without government funding, then great. Lets do that alongside with natural gas, coal, etc.

Government shouldn't be subsidizing any business.

So you agree we need Wall Street reform! See you do have modicum of wise liberalism in you.

As to the rest your egregiously wrong opinions, can you limit it to just one or two? I don't mind shoveling some dung, but here I would need a steam shovel.....

I have tons of what the classic meaning of "liberalism" is. The current day liberalism = socialism and that is antithetical to what I believe in.
I like much of what the Libertarian party stands for.

As for "shoveling," ever hear of the Dread Scott decision from the "all knowing" U.S. Supreme Court? The federal government giving its imprimatur on slavery?

The other examples listed of wrong fed government interventions are not opinions, but FACTS on what happened in the matters of protectionism, and green initiatives/incentives. Where am I incorrect there?

No tony, I have a grasp of history and rely on prudence, where you and your ilk think the World started when Obama took office and everything that has gone before means nothing. Only the "enlightened" people in charge now know what is good for you.

Maybe you should loosen that grasp on history and look toward the future rather than embrace the errors of the past.

I look at the future of what your party wants to bring and I see socialism and bigger and bigger centralized government and a handful of masterminds thinking they know better than everyone else.

The past has great lessons to be learned from and built upon, but not to todays socialistic minded democrats, like yourself and Obama. There are errors in the past, sure, but there are great achievements and policies from the past as well. ...and look at all the blunders now, from putting blinders on and ignoring the past.

Head in the sand for you tony, head in the sand.

Never quite understood that desire. Who will collect the taxes and check the tax returns ? If anything, we should give the IRS back their teeth because people are cheating on their taxes and getting away with it.

I would be happy, if the IRS would get in touch with me, so we can settle last years taxes. I filed, sent in the check, they processed the check, and it cleared my bank, but they have no record of me making payment. I tried calling to resolve, but I will not spend 1.5 hours on hold for the next available agent.

Write your congressmen and tell them to give the IRS budget back some more money so they can answer the phones.

Typicaly it is the conclusion you draw from facts that is incorrect, not the isolated facts themselves.

"Liberalism = socialism"
This of cource is not the case, but it is the summary conclusion you draw......

I was going to say your statement was idiotic but I don't want to insult idiots. If you're to ignorant to learn and grow from the errors of the past you're bound to repeat them.

Reagan left office nearly 3 decades ago, and Obama has doubled the deficit since W left. It was at 10 trillion in 2008... it's now 19 trillion and counting.

I checked out the wiki on the debt... Because I don't know the answer...

Interesting thing I noted... It pretty much doubled every 10 years from 1980 on. Didn't matter who was president...

Looking at publicly held debt... 80-90 almost tripled... 90-2000 was the best decade... Only went up by 150%... 2000-2010 tripled... 2010-2015 a 50% increase, so on target for doubling.

Z. If you double a number every 10 years you will always be spending more than everyone else prior. (Roughly speaking)...

I'm just pointing out none of this is particularly shocking or new.

Besides which, a lot of money had to be spent to keep the country from going into a depression started in the GW years.

lets assume that is true and that zero percent interest rates for almost a decade while increasing gov spending was the presumed answer

did it work Think

Since this has become a debate on the Federal Budget I found a pretty good site that explains things better than I can on the Budget. Here it is:

https://www.nationalpriorities.org/budget-basics/federal-budget-101/spending/?gclid=CLq4hqv66soCFYSDaQodR5ECoA

From what I can tell congress has more control over the spending than the POTUS. Let me know what you think.

labor participation rate at an all time low in blacks/millenials (with the only rise seen in the over 55 population) with stagnant wages, decreased manufacturing and decreased production doesnt seem like propaganda. not raising the interest rates because the crummy economy couldnt handle it doesnt seem like propaganda.

a "5% unelmployment rate" seems like propaganda, as does an over inflated market due to margin debt. throw in the fact that the gov is taking credit for the energy boom (that is due to production increases on private lands) despite gutting oil production on gov lands and i think you have a good setup for a scam.

i think we should give the gov more money to mismanage.

hey, lets reduce our carbon footprint by exporting crude to other nations who dont have the technology to refine it as well as us (aka increasing the carbon footprint per barrel).

okay, i gotta stop. i agree our economy is the prettiest turd in the toilet bowl right now but it still stinks.
