Nope.

I heard the only reason chik-fil-a even charges for food is so they can help the homeless and stuff.

Boring story. Now if they gave each drive through customer a chicken sandwich car seat to keep it safe until eaten then I'd give credit where credit was due. But tw is right, free sandwiches are an accident waiting to happen.

tail I know you get it. your style is unchanging. I used an example of providing water and clothing as an immediate response as well. It was well intended but that doesn't mean you don't get good PR as well. Win-win. It was a great PR move. Good on them.

A "PR Move" as you called it, would be an act intended to provide good publicity.

I'm not debating whether or not this could result in good PR.
I'm just telling you that I think you are wrong about their motivation.

I don't know Chick.
Maybe he has a black heart towards the gays and this was entirely to promote his business. Maybe he hasn't slept a wink since doing it because his actions helped out those who aided the gays.
But maybe, just maybe, it was an act of compassion, enacted without regard for PR. Good, bad, or indifferent.

Quite unlike, I might add, a company that "gives away" something (say, a child safety seat) with an expectation of receiving favorable press.

Look up the word "insinuate".
(Despite the sound of it, it has nothing to do with gluttony.)

We got zero press from the car seats nor did we plant any via releases.. It was a marketing ploy however with the employers etc. I'm not a big fan of the company so really don't intend to defend them.

Don't forget the impromptu water and clothes piece during the flood you keep conveniently ignoring. It wasn't a planned PR move but did fit the corporate culture we wanted to project as well as simply helping our neighbors and was driven by locals.

Meh if you don't think they as a corporation have thought about PR to that level in advance and have a general plan and act accordingly so be it. If you want to interpret my original comments as being PR and only PR drove it even though I continually have said differently then so be it. The beauty of a good PR and marketing plan is if done effectively it seems invisible and develops and maintains a culture you want to maintain. It doesn't have to be disingenuous. Y'all act like PR is bad, It isn't, and while you may be insinuating that it is, I am not. I guess I just come from a different place on it. I don't see it as negative. They are awesome at the PR game and I admire their marketing team.

Just because you thought it doesn't mean someone insinuated it. When you decide you kinow what others are thinking you are on pretty soft ground.

I'm a product of my experiences. I know how I think about such things. I didn't see it as a negative thing. I actually saw it as a great PR move and said good on them.

(and yes I caught the irony and hypocrisy of using the same word in a cross post as you were.... I admit I'm a hypocrite and am OK with it.)

It's the interwebs, Frank. What difference, at this point, does it make?

Mr. Congeniality or Mr. Jackass... infamous is still famous, right?

So now we know that TW is going down fighting against the chicken house and their premeditated publicity stunt, while simultaneously get (very obviously) defensive while "not" defending a company he doesn't even like.

Never really got the slang on these things. Is "poopie head" like a "rusty trombome" but on the other end?

so easy to underestimate the man based on his speaking limitations. But there are almost zero neighborhoods, regardless of ethnic makeup, that wouldn't vote for him again, even though he has been dead for a while.

I don't know where you live, but Boston is amazing.

Agree, Boston IS a great city, but it is despite Menino not because of him. I grew up in the city neighborhoods, a 4th generation Bostonian and a product of Boston Public Schools. As is the case with many liberals, Menino failed to see the paradox of his own intolerance. Many liberals screech about the need to be diverse and inclusive, yet they shout down all opposing views and dismiss them as racist, bigoted, ignorant, etc. Menino was one of the worst. If you didn’t agree with his leftist agenda, he’d wield the power of his office to silence you. Licensing and contracts in the city were a nightmare for anyone who wouldn’t play by his rules. He also had utter contempt for the 2nd amendment, evidenced by Boston’s ridiculous gun laws. His speech impediment aside, Menino was a corrupt boob who failed (or refused) to grasp the principles of democracy. I left Boston a decade ago for the Carolinas and wish I’d done it sooner. Boston’s a wonderful city to visit, but I’d never live there again. The fact that the populace voted for him speaks to his political savvy, it says nothing about his character or ability. James M. Curley was a beloved Boston mayor too; he served 4 terms as mayor and 2 terms as a prisoner.

Bullmastiff... exact reason I'll never go back to live in RI.

Those 'tards voted in Buddy Cianci twice. Dude was an anti-corruption lawyer and was forced to resign as mayor for felony convictions. TWICE.

smdh.

Mom's side was from Southie and Dorchester (Fields Corner), Dad was from Jamaica Plain (South St.); after marriage they moved to the "suburbs" of West Roxbury which is where I grew up; I also lived in JP for 12 years after college.
