I dunno about that. Loved my Passat and both of our GTIs.

Have you had a bad experience?

Not personally... saw a few others have bad experiences. Then again, my wife's uncle had nothing but trouble and breakdowns in his Hyundai Sonata... and I had a little Accent for a commuter for 3 years and it was great.

I've had good luck with German cars but admittedly better (although more boring) luck with hondas.

I'm not exactly brand loyal so much as I am a fan of Japanese made cars. I've had a couple Hondas, a couple Infinitis, a Nissan, and a couple Toyotas. I learned a bit about their manufacturing techniques, and was very impressed.

I disagree with the suggestions of a Navigator or other huge tank ... particularly if mom is going to do a lot (if not most or all) of the driving ... she'd feel as if she were piloting a school bus in a Navigator and it's IMO overkill ...

TOTALLY disagree. It rides like a dream. My ex was 5' 2" and drove it ALL the time. NO PROBLEMS. If you truly desire luxury...THAT is the top of the mountain in SUV luxury. The leather is like sitting on an Italian sofa...the sound system blow your ears off and when you close the doors...it's like closing a bank vault door. There is NO cabin noise whatsoever.

It's available with a 3rd row that for an adult would get you across town in but I don't think I'd want to sit back there cross country.

I would slide right back into another one without hesitation except we're truck people. Gotta haul stuff and pick up stuff for the farm and for the animals.

Jeep Grand Cherokee is the most awarded luxury SUV ever....and the new ones are outstanding.

3.0 L eco diesel
295hp v6
Hemi v8
Supercharged Hemi

The interiors are amazing.

yeah. tail's talking small to midsize suv easy enough for mom to navigate yet with room for big dad.

Never considered one in my life but picked up a used 2008 a few years ago after taking a ride. I could not believe how much room there is for passengers front and back.

I keep the driver seat all the way back and my 6'2" son can fit behind me comfortably.

Looking at the CRV for my new high school grad (she'll be commuting for the first 2 years).

But Frank, if you can reach the peddles with the seat all the way back then I don't think the seat goes back far enough for my dad.
Unless you're tripod skills include acceleration and braking...

Honda/Acura are great vehicles but you are correct that the CR-V will be to small for your dad. Same goes for the Acura RDX.

but dad's not driving. Stuff him into the passenger seat and find out...though there are plenty of more luxurious choices.

and no, my super appendage only has one eye and that is blind so it does not drive. My secret is I wear built up orthopedic shoes.

Tail, none of the small suv's fit me. Most of the mid sized ones do. All the large ones do. 2 in particular to check out are the Chevy Equinox and the Ford Escape. They both are quite roomy. I am 6'4".

Are you really 6'4" or are you 6'4" like Wheel was 5'10"?
