The market will speak. Not sure how they divvy up proceeds from licensed jerseys etc. but unless those players are Tom Bradys I think their stance will be short lived.

This is not a First Amendment issue. Their employers should weigh-in on the matter. They can fake it or lose their jobs. No one in the NFL has the balls to fire or suspend one of them.

They are ALL A BUNCH OF COMMIE PINKO
FAIRY's....

What "statement" are they trying to make???

White COPS shoot too many DUECES?

WHY??? Does football have anything remotely to do with STUPID DIRTY COPS ? It has absolutely nothing to do with it...

Hey overpriviliged PREMADONNA DUECES...
TRY GETTING ILLEGALLY GANGSTALKED BY THE FBI-SSG DIVISION FOR 4+ years, live through more than 6 attempts on your life, have the FBI-SSG STEAL A MILLION $ bucks in cash from your HUT, HAVE THEM MAKE YOU PENNYLESS AND ON MEDICAID AND FOODSTAMPS... HAVE DIRTY FELON "FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT" RUIN YOUR LIFE...
AND...AFTER ALL THAT...

I STILL STAND PROUDLY FOR THE USA NATIONAL ANTHEM...

IF ANYBODY HAS EVEN EARNED THE RIGHT TO KNEEL...IT IS ME AND ONLY ME...

BUT I DON'T,

I *****IN' STAND , WITH MY HAT OFF, HEAD DOWN AND HAND OVER MY HEART...

I HAVE TWO AMERICAN FLAGS AT MY HUT, MY CABIN AND MY GIRL FRIENDS HOUSE...
I DISPLAY IT PROUDLY DESPITE HAVING ONE LOW LIFE DIRTY AS H3LL ORGANIZATION RUNNING AMOK TRYING TO KILL ME EVERYDAY...
I DARE THOSE FBI-SSG FELON CRIMINAL CONVICT PUZZIES TO EVER TRY IT AGAIN.

ALL THOSE DUECE KNEELERS ARE S.C.U.M.
JUST LIKE EVERY FBI-SSG AGENT...

Here'$$$$ the S.O.L.U.T.I.O.N.....

YOU DON'T STAND FOR THE ANTHEM?
You don't play in the game , that day and you get docked a weeks pay...

You don't lower your head, you don't take off your helmet, you don't put your hand over your heart...
SAME THING AS ABOVE...
YOU DON'T PLAY THAT GAME...
YOU GET DOCKED ONE WEEKS PAY....

YOU GOTTA HIT THESE DOUCHE BAGS IN THE WALLET...IT'S ALL THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT...

THREE infractions of the above ...
And your fired from the team....
And sit out the entire SEASON...NO SWITCHING TEAMS.

They're at work.

The NFL got paid to have players out for the anthem. If they don't like it, find a new job or complain to their boss or to their unions. They do have representation.

I don't like the idea of forced patriotism. But this is just stupid, if they really want to protest use the platform of celebrity afforded to them by their profession. AFTER WORK

there have been quite a few fired for their views (normally conservative) as of late

i assume most pro athlete contracts are very long and contain purposely vague "conduct detrimental" clauses

why we care about entertainers' opinions on everything blows my mind. and its not just the social justice stuff in this thread. i heard beiber became a born again Christian or something a week or so ago. two days later he is being interviewed by everyone asking his opinion on complicated Biblical doctrine, Revelation, etc.

If you don't like your pro athlete's respect for the flag or political views...just don't watch...if enough people made that decision, then maybe Toby will behave...

Drama much Al?

People turn to sports for entertainment and a break from the grind of life. It's not difficult to see why people are tired of any political view being shoved at them at every turn. Especially when it's at an event where it should be two groups against each other despite their "tribe's" differences.

That was my way of saying that the pro athletes are paid so much nowadays, they don't give a flip about how they are perceived...hit 'em in the pocket-book, like Colin...

Just going for the hook, to see if anybody remembered...fair enough...

...how do you feel about the athletes (black and white) who invoke and give all credit to God and Jesus when they are interviewed? That's totally cool with most people, right?

... but what would happen if one winning athlete said after a victory: "Allahu Akbar"...

I'm protesting the NFL this year. I won't watch a single game. These athletes, most of whom have little to contribute to society aside from their athletic skills, are way overpaid and I actually saw a guy get up and do an elaborate celebration with his teammates after an interception... while losing 42-17.

ESPN is feeling the heat, too. They can spin it how they want, but most folks who watch ESPN want scores and highlights, not political commentary. They're tuning out.

Well... Christians aren't committing mass murders and suicide bombings in the name of their God. Muslims are. And at face value, I wouldn't be too upset with that saying... it just means God is great.

I assume "Toby" is your way of injecting race into your answer?

I just want my sports to be a break from the sensationalism of 24 hr news.

I don't care if they are Toby or Steve it's all annoying to me.

Delta.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim used to fast during ramadan, and I had a lot of respect for him doing so DURING the season. He's also a smart man, a disagree with him alot....but he is someone who seeks knowledge. Right or wrong that's a positive direction. God is good.

I'm sure if a Japanese player was in the NFL in the 40's and said "BONZAI" there would also be a reaction.

I'm not interested much in the NFL any more. But I have been brain washed enough to watch Cowboy games if they happen to come on the AFN sports channels.

I'm just curious, when the players were sitting... how many people got up and walked out of the stadium?

Race was always a part of Colin's actions, right? What was his reason for the protest?

But I don't really care...he's not on my fantasy team. If he was putting up Rodgers' type numbers, he would be...

Rahim was a great team player, family man, respectful and a devout Muslim, as was Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Abdul Rahman (Walt Hazzard). The great Sandy Koufax caught all sorts of flack for skipping games due to Jewish Holidays. When I was younger, and rooting for the Dodgers, I agreed with conventional wisdom that criticized Sandy...now I recognize the courage it took to make his decision to do that...

There have been several other major athletes who have made historic public protest stances with some type of defiant action, and paid a price: I am amazed by and marvel at their courage...Muhammad Ali, Tommie Smith and John Carlos, Jackie Robinson, Jim Brown to name a few...Colin K is not in their league as a performer, but gets my respect too.

JFK and LBJ come to mind...

...so all the other athletes who don't stand for the National Anthem get a pass? Why?

... because they're only lazy, or the fans want them to save their energy for the most important thing: the game...

...or because they didn't say why they're sitting/kneeling/stretching when it's playing?

Colin Kaepernick was supporting the cause of the BLM, which isn't the hate group it's perceived to be. They aren't saying they are better than anyone else, or want something better than everyone else. BLM doesn't want a black only America. They are "for" being treated fairly, treated the same, equal justice...

I don't think faking it is a good thing. Can you say Stepford Wives? horse

I disagree with what they are doing. I think their cause would be better served if they all found some positive way to affect change rather than disrespect the US. fog

It wouldn't be a big deal if the press didn't cover it... I would bet there are a hundred fans not standing for one reason or another (no legs or somethin) and we don't single them out.... Mellow

Colin K didn't start out doing it by first bringing it to attention. I think he did it the week before and was noticed the second game and only when asked about it and gave his response did it become a thing. Then he's kind of committed to it at that point.

Lynch gives 0 Fs. Always has. That's what his charm with the fans has always been. How will this change his perception? We know he will continue to give 0 Fs about it.

I love my country and will stand in respect every time for all time. If the person sitting next to me doesn't I will ask him why. Then we can have a discussion about it rather than me showing him instant hate. Why is a peaceful protest ever a bad thing just because we don't agree with it? Colin may now be paying the price for that decision. Or he may be just too proud to take a league minimum backup quarterback salary and letting the story of the stance he took being the reason he's not in the league play out right now. IMO if that is the case it would be worse than sitting for the anthem.

You had to go and "almost" change my mind with solid historical facts and a 100% solid argument..
Which you always seem to do...

I watched a two part series on Jackie Robinson on PBS...THAT GUY WAS AMAZING AND HAD BIG BALLS...HE almost did more than MLK? For African Americans...he was a great man.

Damn you Delta1!!!

I still think the young mofo whippersnapper should stand for the National Anthem...
One time made his point...

there is no doubt that the black community has specific and significant hardships. the birth out of wedlock and abortion rates as well as labor participation rates are incredible and disproportionate to folks in equal income brackets that are white, hispanic, asian, etc and the violent crime rates are appalling.

their choice of events/venues would suggest they are at least racists as they only ever show up when its white on black.
[not to mention their request that whites not participate]

Here we go....d'oh!

Kellerman then said it was “embarrassing” and a “disgrace” that no white players have spoken out in favor of the national anthem protests.

i heard an injured war veteran who lost a few buddies in battle state that people disrespecting the anthem causes the same distress/reaction as a swastika flag would to a Jew

he seemed earnestly upset

who am i to argue with him

but i bet most of the media wont give him much air time

Yeah but until ALL Caucasian players follow suit, it won't be enough. And even then...it won't be enough. The " Goal posts " on this racial BS will just keep getting moved by some. When all of the historical markers / statues / flags etc. etc. etc...hell even after the last descendant of slave owners is dead, it won't be enough....it won't end.

I think maybe your whiter...and you're the pretender if you refuse to see it . And they're not asking ( they never do ) they're demanding...lets be honest about that. Hah. I don't act guilty for anything. You can't be as arrogant as I am and pretend to feel guilty for some perceived slight.

And I have never in my life seen anyone "demanding" something from me that simple human decency wouldn't have caused me to do anyway.

Maybe you just are missing the simple human decency...
