This is what I do not get.
Mental retardation, Intellectual Disability, slow, to delay or hinder it all means the same thing.
If I say for instance "You must be intellectually disabled". Guess what, I am saying.
If I say "You must be slow" or "You must have a mental delay" or "Your inelegance is hindered."
It all means "Retarded" one is no worse than the other in my book.
Next thing you know we are going to pick the word "Cookie or Flower " out of the dictionary and start taking offense to it.
1)- the punchline is "what do you mean we, Paleface".
2)- I really was addressing tailgater, I sincerely thought he abandoned using the word negatively due to wife's career, and I am in a similar situation.
3)- yeah, I know the clinical meaning, just like I know idiot, imbecile, educable, etc.
but use of those terms, like much language, evolves over time and now we tend to use it as an insult...which unintentionally demeans those with these intellectual limitations.
But I prolly shoulda just pm'd Joe...but I'm like uh idiot, as you know.
