People need to realize that some things might offend them. And it's OK to be offended, and to say that you're offended. But to take away MY right to something because YOU'RE offended is pure and genuine intolerance.
no, not saying anything should be banned...I would watch those movies at home when my brother isn't around...I don't want to take away your rights to anything...you wanna hear the song, find a station that plays it or buy the cassette...some guy likes to see porn, let him do so in front of his fireplace in his home...
if one wants to say, hear, view something others find offensive, they can do so in the privacy of their own homes or in places where the offended wouldn't be...
there are plenty of examples where someone's rights are taken away by an intolerant offended society...you may like to walk around naked, and find that to be the most enjoyable activity in the world and believe you have the right to do that, because it's OK in many other places...in our civilized society with our rule of law, society takes away your right to walk around with your weinie hanging out in public...
an exception would be political speech, where our traditional view of the Constitution has been interpreted by several SCOTUS decisions that allows for uncensored political speech, even if offensive, in the public arena...that's why the Nazis were allowed to march in Skokie years ago, and then again in Charlottesville...but music is commercial "speech" and doesn't enjoy unfettered rights to be heard in the public arena...
so maybe if you painted an American flag on your pr*ck, you can walk around outside in public without getting arrested...
