I went to donate when I was in college in the 70's, but the ARC determined I had hemophilia and urged me to get tested...turns out I have a rare blood disorder, which makes me ineligible to donate
I gave regularly as a young buck, then got the Hep C letter from the Red Cross.
It wasn't Hep C, just elevated liver enzymes that I already knew about.
But man. That letter sucked the wind out of me.
I almost cancelled my date that night. Or worse, I almost brought a condom.
