I keep thinking of the Johnny Knox injury against Seattle. No, he didn't die, but dude was folded in half backwards. Game was finished and the Bears released him 2 seasons later. I'm not positive, but believe that was the end of his compensation

are the owners and the league off the hook if this is considered a "pre-existing condition" or if he died, would the cause of death be due to "trauma from the game"? Litigation will def ensue...

would reactions to this event have been different if Tom Brady "died" on the field?

Hank Gathers died on court during a college basketball game more than 30 years ago. The game and the tournament were cancelled. If something similar happened during March Madness, I suspect the games will continue...
