I called customer service at cigarbid.com and they explained to me why these are authentic: They are not made by General Cigar (Red Dot Cohibas) but they are made by the first company to sell a Dominican version of the Cohiba in the U.S. (the company mentioned in the auction page). So they don't look like the Cuban Cohibas, but instead are similar. My suspicion was aroused by the Cigar Aficionado counterfeits webpages. Here is a link to what confused me (if you care):

Take care.

Did the price you paid for the cigars and the fact they were not Cuban tip you off? Silly me.

You know, after reading my last comment I realized that I may not have been clear in my sarcasm. Consider this as reinforcement. Thanks.

Perhaps I was unclear in my previous message, or more likely, your sarcasm is a result of your inability of reading comprehension. In no way did I think that these were the Cuban Cohiba Esplendidos. Perhaps in the future you should READ the message before bestowing us with your "nugget" of ""wisdom"". If you visited the web address that I provided in the message, you would understand what I was speaking about. Better luck next time.

On the contrary my narrow minded rookie of tobacco puffers. The fact that you even made the comment regarding conterfeit Cohiba's, regardless of the country of origin simply illustrates the fact that YOU need to brush up on some common cigar news that has plagued the entire stogie sucking community for the last two years. Where have you been? There has been a lawsuit regarding the publication of the Cohiba "like" label via Dominicana pending for the last 2 years. Further more, the CA Counterfeit label demo on Cohiba's (yellow band) only pertains to the Cuban version anyway. Who in their right mind would even bother duplicating the dominican piece of s@#* ? Don't hate the message, hate the fact you wasted $30 on crap-ola. Sorry for the miss-spells, I just polished off a bottle of `95 Jordan cab with some colleagues. Damn good with my CAO Maduro Robusto I might add. Have fun.

In an attempt to put this thread to a final rest, I suppose I am just going to prolong it, but what the hell...
My explanatory posts are written that way so that ALL can understand them, that means INCLUDING newbies. Instead of taking an elitist vocabulary and stream-lining my posts into codified jargon, I usually pose questions and they are some times rhetorical. The point of my posts is discussion from all, not just an elitist view of "if you don't know all there is to know, then I don't want to hear your voice". As far as myself being referred to as a "narrow minded rookie", 'narrow minded' is a term reserved for those who is not tolerant of outside ideas or opinions (hmmm... who is guilty of that?) and the term rookie well, I guess starting in 1994 would make me a rookie. As far as brushing up on "common cigar news that has plagued the (blah blah blah ad nauseaum)..." I've known about the dispute over the Cohiba trademark outside of Cuba. My confusion came about because the last time I had the yellow band Dominican Cohiba, it WAS in 1994 and I didn't remember dots on the band instead of squares. The reason for this expectation is I've grown accustomed to the Cuban Esplendidos that I've smoked, which also have squares on the label.
I find it kind of funny that an elitist would misspell the word "misspell" by placing a hyphen in it (heh heh, just being a d**k). You've got some good chops wanyburger, just keep 'em off me :) Take care.

I am so upset. I just got around to reading you beautifully composed retort. So much time has passed that I am afraid the passion to create a worthy response has escaped me. I do applaud your well thought out vocabulary riddled answer, although I did tend to lose the message there within. That could simply be because I was trying to refresh my memory while perusing such a work of art. I am amazed that you picked up my intention with the noted hyphenations at the end of my directive. I almost give you credit for the catch however tsk’d for not identifying the deliberant nature for which it was intended. Cheerio. Oh, either way the Dominican Cohiba cigars suck.
