that's exactly the hope of the counterfeiter, that you don't recognize it as a fake by the taste. Even non Cuban cigars are being counterfeited now, like Padrons. I get my Cubans from a friend in Europe from an established tobacconist. Also remember the Cubans change the box codes frequently, so just because yours may not match the latest codebreak in itself doesn't make it a fake. But I so much agree with the person above, I love taking the boxes out of the humidor and just take in the incredible aroma and dark red wrappers just begging to be smoked, my mouth is watering as I write. But if you are in a foreign country and just not sure, I would avoid buying Cohibas as these are by far the most counterfeited cigars.
