The original Maya line in maduro made by Pedro Martin, aged for a couple of years, were incredibly rich tasting cigars...but they always needed to be put to sleep for quite a while.
I bought a bundle of Maya Reserve from CBid when they were first offered, recalling my experience with the old line maduros, though these were a rosado. They are very young, clearly still giving off an ammonia aroma. I believe Pedro Martin now has these made by Nestor Plasencia. After removing the cello fom each cigar, and placing them loosely for storage in an unvarnished cedar box and into a cooler, a few months later they've become a very different cigar. In another six months to a year, they will be excellent. If you have some of the Mayas, and found them harsh, let them rest and try them in several months.
