If y’all are bored there is an excellent video out there of the stones crashing a muddy waters club date. Drunkenness and appearances by buddy guy etc.

Sadly, for as long as Taj lived in Hawaii, I only got to see him live, once. And that was back in ‘70 or ‘71 when he opened for the Chambers Brothers (“...time has come today, young hearts can go their way...”). I’ve had a bootleg copy of Muddy and the Stones for a few years but the video and audio ain’t so good. My copy is also incomplete as it starts in the midst of “Baby, Please Don’t Go” when the Stones arrive at the club and work their way to their table. I should look into picking up the official release.... |

saw Taj (Springfield MA guy) in a mesmerizing solo stint in Syracuse late 1971/early 1972. Setting was a tiny room, about 35 hippies on the floor, like a large living room. His show that night was like a lecture/concert...he was teaching as he played and it was awesome.
just remembered the name of the place. Jabberwocky. Gonna research it, will probably be saddened to read it held 250,000 people. |

“Old Times Good Times” and “Go Back Home” with Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, respectively, are my favorite cuts.

Was just watching a documentary last night about the rise and fall of the Clash. Unfortunately I started late so it was just the depressing fall half of things
That was followed by a Dropkick Murphys concert in Dublin returning mebto my former elevated spirits |

Rick James - Street Songs
Palama, any chance there's some Mynah Birds in that massive library of yours? There was no studio album, but I'll bet there's some bootlegs or demos somewhere. The idea of Rick James and Neil Young has intrigued me for a some time. Dud find a small few on YouTube |

Eventually led to more reading about Rick James. Which then led to YouTubing stuff like this: http://www.cc.com/video-clips/iuegla/chappelle-s-show-charlie-murphy-s-true-hollywood-stories---rick-james-pt--1---uncensored I don’t know that I would seek out the Motown releases with their recordings but totally cool to learn some music history. Decent set of tracks. I was surprised that an actress could put out something better than forgettable fluff. And that they went a bluesy rock route as opposed to straight pop |

Alan Parsons - I Robot.
Not sure why ....but it is pretty nostalgiac...didn't exactly wear this one out, but the vinyl did get quite a few spins back in the day. I'm not entirely sure what to make of it now. Too poppy....much of the production is overwrought....kinda pretentious at times...silly at others. Good to revisit, but probably don't really need to do it again for another decade or two. |
