Starz - Attention Shoppers!

Saw on Wiki that Violation was supposedly the favorite album of Starz fans....so I listened to the whole thing for first time in years...I'd never really liked it much and always thought Attention Shoppers was far better...but, I gave Violation an honest listen today....and it sorta sucks....at least next to Attention Shoppers. I'm sure some of it is my own personal nostalgic bias, but, I don't think there's any comparison...and the wiki characterization about Violation being metal-er or harder or whatever it said...and A.S. being more mainstream or pop-rock-ish is pure rubbish. 3rd Time's a Charm is a bit weak, but the rest of A.S. is very solid 70's rock and roll.

in the early 70's, friends thought I was kidding when I said I thought they were really good.

Most had them written off as a top40 band due to the explosion of new music outlets on FM radio. At that time there was peer pressure to side with AM vs FM.

Doc, it's been decades. Any particular album(s) I should revisit?

The Fire Meets the Fury Tour. Which show did you catch? They took turns opening / headlining and usually jammed together at the end.

Yeah, I also liked Morphine........I saw Treat Her Right at the Channel in the mid 80's

never saw either band, but I Think She Likes Me is as cool as it gets...pretty typical of their low-fi sound with strong blues.

Last night, I watched a bunch of "Grampa Jones" videos on YouTube.
A far cry from SONIA DADA, I know, but my tastes are very eclectic.

Stax....and more Stax...it isn't often that I wish I was just a few years older....this music (and its history) had largely escaped me...I mean I always loved 60's soul/R&B/funk...but from a suburban white-guy perspective...it was all about Motown...what an era...I know most of the big Stax names, but didn't really know...ya know?
