Great time for fusion...at least for me. I never found free-form jazz to be very accessible to me....Pat Methany was one of those that got me hooked on the next generation of jazz...with real melodies..right around 1980...he and Sanborn, Clarke, Syro Gyra, Lorber, Tom Scott....they tread a fine line between saccharine soft rock and jazz. Methany hit the sweet spot for me.

A comp of some of Eric's finest as well as terrible performances during his drunken period. On some songs he's as drunk as a skunk (...slurring, swearing at the audience, sloppy guitar playing...thank goodness for George Terry...), on others, less drunk but pushed by guests such as Carlos Santana and Pete Townshend, he delivers great solos. Was fun to make and listen to once in a blue moon.

Ginger Baker's Air Force....so much talent...so much potential...maybe that's why its so disappointing....because I wanted it to be Cream...or Traffic ....or Blind Faith, even...but its an historic jam that might have been incredible live...but meh

even if the song is not at all about trains in any way, I am a sucker for songs that have that clickety clack forward drive of trains incorporated into them...liked very much, unusual for me on one listen.

Even though they were "popular", I always felt their popularity was wrongly limited due to the perception of being an artsy band.
