Went to a glenmorangie tasting last night. The whole line. My favorite is still the 18 although the astra is good too.

My dad and I opened up a bottle of glenmorangie 18 about an hour after my mom passed. We decided to always have a bottle around to toast her whenever we are together.

By the way it’s glen mORANGE eeee. Like the fruit. Orange label orange name. Not glen more ange or glen more Angie.

I’ve been pronouncing it right for years and am amazed at how many times I’ve been corrected by folks pronouncing it wrong.

Check your Costco. Mine has packs of lasanta, Quinta ruban and original for $99. That’s a steal.

I would say that is a good price. Don't think I have seen it in the panhandle for less than $49.

Actually, The Storm was at $57.99 on sale.

Still a good price. The megastore here bought pallets of it and the oban from the distributor. Thus the 39.99 price.

Everywhere else the oban is $100.

Can’t find Weller (...any of their expressions...) in the stores here. If you find the 12 in a restaurant or bar, looking at $18-20 per drink. Gonz

I've been from bottom shelf to top shelf and all points in between for many years now.My one observation that seems to repeat itself over and over..........Everytime I find a favorite middle of the road bourbon it either disappears, gets rebranded with a price increase or drops the age statement and gets reblended with younger whisky.Just in the last 7-8 years.......Weller 12 gone,Elmer T Lee gone,Elijah Craig not a 12 yo anymore, fancy new bottle, taste nothing like the OR EC and.......drum roll please........a f*****g price increase,of late Old Granddad 114 has all but disappeared.Based on this observation I'm betting Old Forester Signature 100 proof,my new favorite middle of the shelf bourbon,is either rebranded with a price increase or disappears altogether since it is Woodford Reserves kissing cousin.

Bourbon........a love/hate affair

Normally a Glenlivet 14 kinda guy. Went to a store I'd never been to and the guy was cleaning up a broken bottle of rum in the back...saw I was looking at the scotch asked if I needed any help. I said "Naw", and he walked up anyways. Asked my likes and I told him. He asked if I'd ever tried Aberfeldy. He told me the whole history on them about how John Dewars bought them out to blend to make his namesake. Said he goes over once a year because of his wife's family and he loves going to his favorite distillery and finds a new one to go to each time. I looked at the Aberfeldy and it was 15 bucks cheaper than my normal. He said if I didn't like it, to bring it back and he'd buy the rest off of me.

Well, I tried it last night and I liked it. It's not my favorite but its good.

Dubbin stared a ISO thread for Elmer, so I went searching for the first mention in this thread...didn't take long at all.

I checked out my local here in Jersey for Dubbin's Elmer T Lee. No luck. Ran across a 5th of Redemption Rye that looked interesting for $25 so I thought I'd give it a try. I found out after I got home that it's distilled by MGP (formally LGI) in Indiana. The same folks who distill Bulliet, Templeton, Dickel, etc. Not a bad Rye, and it has some Bulliet notes, but a lot younger. Smooth and spicy, but lacking something on the finish. I should have just paid $3 bucks more for the Bulliet. Oh well, live and learn.

They had this in a "high rye" Bourbon (35% rye, 60% corn), but I was in the mood for Rye.

I don't even look anymore, and stopped asking the shpo owners. I think MA is not on the list of what few states even get any.
Also concerned that it has changed.
