Frank, anything from Miraflors is great and a value. They also make Cuvee Nicholas, an old vine Grenache, Tesserle GSM, and Tesserle Carignan. Another producer to look for from that region is Puech Haute. |

Sweet and cheap, had to have another few sips, LOL.
Wife likes sweet wines, but this was almost too sweet. Her palate is evolving towards slightly drier stuff. I'm ruined for life, hehe.
AND, yessir Frank, it is spelled out below the flavor, not just the big K in the circle. 10 percent alcohol, so not my normal high proof whiskey, but OH SO YUMMY. Elderberry is likely more of a Southern thang. I gathered enough wild ones to make a 6 gallon batch and then racked it down until it was finished in a 5 gallon glass carboy about 22-23 years ago, just after my divorce, and when I finally sold the house, I moved the finished 5 gallon carboy to my brother's basement, but on one of my trips out on the riverboat, the airlock went dry and I didn't try to keep it up. Pretty sure it's still sitting in the same spot, just gone insipid, most likely. |

2013 Josh cabernet sauvignon - very good - we'll see how it compares to the 2016 later this week.
Also a nice American Syrah from a local "Gone With The Wind" winery here in SD - a little on the sweet side for a red, but not bad, finished the bottle one evening last week! |

2016 Valley View Vineyards Tempranillo
Valley View is a local high volume(ish) producer that makes decent wine, this one is thin for a Tempranillo and acidic but it’s ok. I’d have rather had a cheap Spanish one over this but the store where I went didn’t have any and it was on sale for $9.99.
Made butter chicken and rice for dinner. |

Speyside wrote:Frank, stick with Provence and Languedoc and Roussillon for rose, you will never go wrong. sure seems true. have had a Greek roditi (sp?) once or twice that I enjoyed. Perhaps I'm not critical enough yet. Not saying I wouldn't flip over an expensive rose, but year after year I've been more than happy with <$20/bottles of the pink juice. and most of those were < $15! Can't say the same for pinot noirs and cabs. |

Yes, I did. Try a high quality rose, it will be an eye opening experience. Black Bird, Elk Cove, Il Poggione, La Spinetta, Pascal Jolevet, Petite Bourgeois, Alain Juame, Puech Haut, La Farge, to name a few. In relative terms they are inexpensive. My list above ranges from 11 to 25. |
