I think I see where you are going Delta. But we used to think loan sharking was criminal and had laws against it.
Until the Right sold the idea that repealing the laws would create jobs (yep - that’s right).
So now if citi bank hits you with a 23% interest rate on you existing load - well that’s binnus....

Samething happened to news services and advertisers having to tell the truth as a point of law. It just was not good for business. Just like so many other things that are not good for business:
Unions
Retiring at 65
Freedom of speech
Heath benefits
The EPA

Yes, these things plainly stand in the way of Making America Great Again.
For businesses, of course.

One of Hillary Clinton’s wealthy pals paid $500,000 in an unsuccessful effort to fund women willing to accuse President Trump of sexual misconduct before the 2016 election, The New York Times reported Sunday.

Susie Tompkins Buell, the founder of Esprit Clothing and a major Clinton campaign donor for many years, gave the money to celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom who was working with a number of Trump accusers at the time, according to the paper’s bombshell report.

Bloom solicited donors by saying she was working with women who might “find the courage to speak out” against Trump if the donors would provide funds for security, relocation and possibly a “safe house,” the paper reported.

Former Clinton nemesis turned Clinton operative David Brock also donated $200,000 to the effort through a nonprofit group he founded, the paper reported in an article entitled, “Partisans, Wielding Money, Begin Seeking to Exploit Harassment Claims.”

Bloom told the Times that the effort was unproductive. One woman requested $2 million then decided not to come forward. Nor did any other women.

Bloom said she refunded most of the cash, keeping only some funds for out-of-pocket expenses accrued while working to vet and prepare cases.

Tough week for Mr. President...first the book "Fire and Fury" suggests insiders and staffers in the WH have private concerns about Trump's fitness for office and whether he really wanted/wants the job...

Then he goes out and makes a case for the veracity of the stuff in the book: (paraphrasing) "take them all back to their shi*thole countries"...

If you're OK with this kind of language, which indicates a personal prejudice and acceptance of discrimination, because plenty of Americans in bars all over Wisconsin or (insert state of choice) say the exact same thing. Those people say it's just that he's the first President to have the balls to say those things out loud. No he wasn't (Truman said "I think one man is as good as another so long as he's honest and decent and not a **** or a Chinaman.").

Is that what Trump means when he says MAGA? It seems that the President and his supporters want to return to a world where open racism and discrimination of people based on race and nationality is standard.

Our Constitution is the foundational list of primary beliefs by which we measure ourselves...Trump doesn't care about it...

We should all have respect for the Office of the Presidency...there have been a rare few times when the man in the Office shows he is not worthy, and it is up to us, the people, through our elected Congressmen to stand up to the disrespectful occupant...I'm not saying now is the time...it is more important to let all the Russian investigations conclude to see if there is cause...

but since our national politics has become a team/bloodsport and party and political priorities are more important than the good of the country and the power of the Office, I don't think the GOP will ever try to remove one of their own from office again as happened to Nixon...I can only imagine how all the cons would have reacted had Hillary been elected and she had identical events associating her and her campaign with the Russian government...

I would hope that the Dems would hold Hillary accountable if she were in Trump's position...

Anybody remember anything from President Trump's State of the Union address a couple of days ago?

It has been completely over-taken by news regarding the GOP House Intelligence Committee Chair's memo regarding "bias in the FBI. "

527. Author: delta1Date: Thu, 2/1/2018, 6:03PM EST
Trump announced earlier this week, before the State of the Union speech, that there won't be any new sanctions on the Russians, even though Congress voted more than 90% in favor of sanctioning Russia for interfering in our elections. This was less than a week after the three heads of Russian spy agencies met in the capital with WH and US Intelligence officials...

Trump was also supposed to investigate and identify the criminal oligarchs who are suspected of money laundering and financing the elections meddling. They instead merely produced the names of the richest Russians from a Forbes Fortune list!!!

Trump is many things, some good and some bad. But unintelligent is not a fair assessment.

Jordan Peterson (I'm sure most know of him at this point agrees)

I'm pretty sure unintelligent is a fair assessment.

Have we seen him actually read anything more than 160 characters? I have serious doubts about a person's intelligence if they are president of the USA and don't think there is some information which needs to be taken in as an entire full written report.

Trump during the SOU speech: I am proud that we were able to lower the African American unemployment rate to the lowest in history...isn't that great?!?

Fact: The trend started under Obama's terms, dropping from more than 17% to about 7.5%. At the end of Dec 2017, the number was 6.8%. Trump took credit for the historic low number.

Then............it rose nearly a full percentage point in January, 2018...
