A lot of those past efforts were out in the open, supporting a pro-US democratic candidate over a hostile authoritarian leader. Some were covert, especially against authoritarian govts with dictatorial regimes...all to gain pro-democracy, pro-US leadership in other countries...

Messing with Israel's elections by Obama was considered by many to be a bridge too far. Not sure when Netanyahu came to the US, ignored the President, and addressed Congress, including disparaging remarks about our POTUS. Was election meddling payback for that...or for Israel spying (Pollard) on US and stealing confidential info?

So, is meddling in another nation's elections no longer OK, even if it results in pro-democracy, pro-US regimes, and even if done openly?

I personally, never believed they had Hildog in a cage, though she probably should be, nor did I believe she supported Sharia Law, but I really don't know for sure what she does in her spare time... to be fair, I had someone explain these concepts to me before I formed my opinion....
