Interesting and extended day. Some new experiences include...
Drove a Lexus and an Acura.
Drove to an auto salvage yard 65 miles away (never even been in that area before) just before dark.

Ever see Making a Murderer? Within that shop, as sunlight showed fear and left, it looked like they were casting for a sequel.

Lexus. Funny thing is, they were both smaller suvs, and the Lexus was four years older, but better overall. The lumbar support was off the charts wonderful.

Went though a rough estimate of taxes this year (still waiting on a couple forms yet). Fed owes me about $3.5k, I owe state $150. Kinda sad that gave the Fed a $3k interest free loan this year.

I try to break even each year at tax time as I don't like to give the government a free loan nor do I want to owe them anything either. I thought I was gonna owe them a bunch since I shuffled some some money around from a regular IRA to a Roth (that's a taxable event) and the free money that Wally World is giving me for tuition. Turns out, being a poor college student has worked in my favor for taxes and stuff.... Not set in stone though, I'll do a deeper dive later when I get the last couple 1099's.

A little bonus that I didn't know about until last night. The e-bikes I bought qualify as a Class 2 electric vehicle for a tax credit of 10% of the vehicle cost (other vehicles qualify for up to 30%). It's only a $100 write off but I'll take it.

See.. I'm totally in tune with Green Tech and saving the whales, the baby seals, the rain forests and the icebergs and stuff - it's not all about money, I'm doing my part to save the planet.

(If I knew about the tax credit I would have bought a more expensive e-bike).

Tuesday, peoples. Back into the trenches.

Still doing the multi department supervision and likely to through tomorrow at least. Definitely wearing on me. I am getting rave reviews from the other guy's crew though, which confirms many suspicions I've had about how the other guy operates in general.

Gonna hit the gym early. Going to be 72 today so the wifey and I will be at the Phoenix Open for a practice day. Free shuttles and entrance fee and no crowds. Lay in the grass on a hill with a beer and cigar (wife upwind)
Ah.... winter in the desert.

52F on it's way to 55F. Cloudy. 87% chance of rain. 5mph breeze. 87% RH makes that very cold to me.- a classic Orlando wintery day

Hand surgeon check-up with a good buddy of mine all the way to Lakeland (60+ miles just to see him as opposed to someone local.

He is the better choice because my injury is to a tendon and ligament and he is a soft tissue expert (triple board-certified in hands, microsurgery and plastic surgery) as opposed to an ortho, who will only focus on the bones.

Maybe he will tell me I don't need the brace anymore. Who the frank am I kidding? He said six week and this is just an interim examine like three weeks in. Fingers, hand, arm, shoulder and upper back are killing me from the extra weight and non-use.

Looking forward to swimming again, hopefully real soon!

Holy frijole, Batman... it's 41 headed to 81 and the weather channel says "excessive heat warning"?

Have they BEEN here in July and August?? 81 is a great day. 101 is excessive. And the low humidity makes 81 feel even better.

Blueberry english muffin with butter and blueberry jelly from a local provider. Delish.

Double dog walk duty the next few days.

Not sure if I want to do the walk or the park.

Park has shifted fields. Bigger dogs moved to a smaller field so the bigger field can recover. Seems like more fights happen when they're in the smaller field.

And I think I just answered my own question. Prolly try to avoid that particular park for a while. We do have a couple others that don't get as much traffic. Think

Happy Birthday Deadeye !

Got some cold rain and maybe a bit of freezing rain, Had to redo the front walkway that had iced up again. Driveway is still a disaster and I'm not sure I can get out today. 37/16 today and it was predicted to be sunny - not so far tho. Prediction is for a little rain or snow Thursday morning. Gotta get out tomorrow - running out of a few chow items and I need a haircut. Last time I got out of the driveway was a week ago. No mail got through Friday & Saturday except for a priority package. I've had enough of winter for a while.

Hand is doing well. He put me in a sling to try to alleviate upper extremity spasm and pain. Seeing pain doc tomorrow for the portion of the problem that definitely is related to my neck- and I am hoping he will inject me right into the two places in spasm. Oh, and the doctor said I could swim with the brace on so I will start up again tomorrow!!!=d>

On another note, it looks like my niece will be living with us for a while, perhaps until August when she leaves for college. She is already doing much better after getting away just from her sister and mother- my sister- and their individual problems and living situation.

We got her back on track with her doctors and they changed one of her meds. We also got all her add meds straightened out and refilled. She really seems to be doing better now in that regard! [-o<

I am working on her now to get her to either quit her job or only work like 1-2 half shifts on weekends so that she has time to study and begin to be a kid again. Several of the schools she applied to have placed her in a pending status until this semester's grades come out and she must do well in her courses, including those which earn more college credits.

Yesterday, I attended a meeting with her teachers and guidance counselor to discuss why she has already been out 10 days since this new year. They all said they were seeing little things wrong with her before she was out (missed work and tests) and were very receptive to giving her accommodations for past work and tests missed, and will do so again if she misses anymore school this semester. Apparently the letter I dictated for the doctor was sufficient and future absences, if any, will not require a doctor's note; just her mom calling in. Angel

She is exceptionally smart and can discuss any topic with any adult, so to speak. Her high school GPA is 4.0++ at a very competitive school, which is top 10 or 15 in her class of like 750 students. She helps around the house and volunteers to do chores and cook. Always very polite. Makes her own bed and does her own laundry and cleans up after herself even better than my kids do!

So, so far it is going well...

And, I **think** they will be able to allow her to take the school bus to and from school from my neighborhood. Then I won't have to wake up early and drive her back and forth to school twice a day.

After arriving back in NV, I realized humidity also plays a large role in winter comfort. 24% humidity at 35 degrees is much more comfortable than 60% humidity at 35 degrees. I had always only associated high temperature humidity with discomfort.
