Inspired by Che Guevara and Fidel Castro,’ a New York restaurant missteps in Miami

Miami Herald

Café Habana, which has locations in New York City, Malibu, Calif., and Tokyo, intends to open a location in downtown Miami. Its origin story honors Cuban revolutionaries Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. CAFÉ HABANA WEBSITE A Mexican hangout where the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Che Guevara plotted the Cuban revolution is the inspiration behind a New York City restaurant opening a location soon in Miami.

Miami is having a problem with this.

Café Habana, set to open in Miami in the Spring of 2022, according to its website, opened its first location inside a converted New York diner in 1997. The concept is a fusion of Cuban and Mexican cuisine — with a backstory rooted in communist revolutionary lore. Miami voter's party affiliation was changed from Democrat to Republican with no consent

[h]“Inspired by a storied Mexico City hangout, where legend has it Che Guevara and Fidel Castro plotted the Cuban Revolution
, the flagship Café Habana location was created out of an old-school New York diner in 1997. Eighteen years later, Café Habana remains an institution…” read a description on the restaurant’s website until this week.

Should go over big with the crowd AOC hangs out with at that ghey Miami drag bar since Che Guevara was a notorious homophobe.

To be fair, there are probably many Afghan restaurants in NYC. Maybe even featuring Bomber sandwiches.

I never heard of a stupider idea in my entire life...

Miami is the Cuban exiles stronghold of the universe...

They recruited most of the bay of pigs mercenaries / freedom fighters from Miami and the closer Florida areas around Miami of Cuban exiles...

It will get bombed within 4 weeks of opening...

Still prolly not gonna sell well in Miami.I've had the Cuban version, very damn tasty, the Filipino version, both the beef and pork version damn good with rice, the El Salvadorian version, very good but they tend to use chicken not beef, but the Nicaraguan and Columbian versions are the best..........perfectly stripped beef and made with hogao sauce, this sauce is good on damn near anything but brings rope veija to life on arepas.

Love ropa vieja, had it the other day made by Peruvians (I think) and it was not so good.

Nope. Florida Cubans strongly identify as Republicans and went big for Trump last time too.
