I would check your hygrometers to make sure they are accurate first, then try using PG(Propylene Glycol) with your distilled water (or a premixed solution) to stabilize your levels… but hey, im far from being an expert. Good Luck!!

What Jon said. Try swapping them around to see what happens. Did you calibrate hygrometers?

I have been using 2 dry mistat or clima guard in both of my 50 count humidors for the last 6 years and they keep it at a steady 70. I calibrate my gauge every 2 months to make sure it is working properly. I don't believe in using the chemical solutions or distilled water (sorry guys just from my experience). Try one tube and you should see a difference.

Regular tap water has impurities, minerals and chemicals in it that will clog your 'credo' after awhile. Although there are units out there that say you can use tap water ... it is not recommended.

Using distilled water is the best (100% pure, because it is condensed from steam). The PG solution is used to keep the relative humidity even ... because without it, you are taking the chance that the drastic fluctuations in the moisture content of your cigars will cause them to crack or split.

Also ... it can effect the proper aging environment.

I would also add that the PG apparently inhibits mold growth on your credo sponge. With 50/50, you can sleep easy, it does the work for you. If your hygrometers are off, don't worry, just use them as a reference. When they start to head south, no matter what they are reading, add distilled water. It's better to add distilled water before the credo dries, however.

Do you guys put 50/50 or distilled in your homemade floral foam humidifers? I've just been adding tap to those and figure I'll toss it when they look spent since the stuff is so cheap.

50/50 to start, then distilled as needed.

This may be overkill, but if your tap has chlorine, I'd be paranoid of that smell penetrating my stoges. If not, then I'd say you're probably right. Distilled is probably still cheaper than Oasis foam @ about a buck a gallon.
