I haven't met the first three of you that posted yet...uh, hello?

Whatdya think of Aruba. I've never choosen it since it is supposedly arrid and abounds with cactus. I really don't like the desert scenery if I'm going to a far away island...is it as it seems?

I love Barbados, PR, the Virgin Islads, Jamaica...and more. Didn't like the Cayman Islands due to their 'sanitized Caribbean', Disney feel...

I always look forward to travel opinions!

Ahhh, Aruba and La Cabana. That's where my wife and I went (and stayed) on our honeymoon. It was the greatest vacation I've ever had!
Marla - It's true that it's more desert than tropical, but the island's not that big, so there's not that much desert! There are fantastic restaurants, shopping, activities, and it's nowhere near as expensive as I expected. The only thing that sucks is the long plane ride to get there -- the price you pay for being out of the hurricane belt I guess.
