I just lost a bet to a good friend because I could not tell him my "all time favorite cigar".

Sure, I could have lied and said this cigar or that cigar is my favorite but for those of you that don't know me...I am honest. – really I am. So, I lost but I should have known that something was up because of the gleam in his eye. Warriors past and present simply cannot be trusted. 🙂.

There are sooooo many "Great Cigars" how could I pick just one and refer to it as my all time favorite? There are too many classes of cigars and too many great choices within each class! And we all know, more expensive cigars do not always mean better.....

I thought that I could merely recount experiences and easily determine my favorite cigar, as it is generally associated with the experience or is it? I thought about the gar that I smoked after Completing Drill Sergeant School in 19XX Well, it is safe to say a long time ago– Awesome – impeccable Montecristo Number 2. Not true - or is it? So, I thought about the cigar that I smoked at my wedding – Montecristo A – Incredible smoke – Not true or is it? Then I recounted the gars that I smoked in celebration of the birth of my children Cohiba, HdM, Davidoff…More recently the experience that I have had with other Great cigars like the Vegas Robania, San Cristobal, Ramon Allones, Saint Luis Rey, El Rey del Mundo, etc. etc. etc. I saw that this was going nowhere so I tried a different approach!

I thought that I could count the number of cigars (from my favorite top 10 cigars) that I have in storage and easily come up with my favorite cigar based upon the amount of on hand smokes...Not True - or is it?

Then I tried counting the empty boxes of the cigars that I have smoked and thought for sure that over time I would have purchased more of my favorite cigars...Still not true - or is it?

Okay, back to my question how do I/you/we determine our favorite cigar? Does anyone out there have one specific favorite? One all time favorite. I can only say that I can easily determine and with a degree of reliability my top 25 cigars, even if I am drilled down I can come up with (a constantly changing list) of my top 10 cigars. But to say that this is my favorite of all time….Never!

I can't do it either. I simply have several in several categories. Sungrown, Cameroon, Corojo, Maduro, Sungrown Maduro, Connecticut Shade, Habana, etc., etc. I want to be able to say I have a favorite, but I can't. What a dilemna?!!

Can't help with a favorite cigar,there are so many great cigars out there,it also depends on your mood and activity at the time ,even time of day can rule your choices.....So don't think about it enjoy them all

I have current favorites by category such as Aged, Smooth, Bold, Maduro, Sweet, Cheap, etc. But even that list changes as I find new cigars to try. Can't come up with one either.

montecristo #5.

I just had a Montecristo #5 last night ... and kept commenting to myself what a great cigar it was. The flavor, aroma, size ... evertything was perfect.

But to say it was my favoirite, would be stretching it a little. My favorite cigar changes with the mood I am in ... how I feel ... what I am drinking or what I just ate ... type of weather ... you get the point.

No matter where else in the world of cigars I travel - whenever I light one of these up -- I feel like I just came home again.

I guess that makes it my favorite.

I know I am a new comer to the forum but I can say that my all time favorite is A.F. Flor Fina 8-5-8. Otherwise I would have said a Drew Estate Natural Root (But I have had draw problems on several and consider thar a minus in selection). Until something other than that comes along I will say that this is my "All time Favorite".

OK ... you just reminded me. I do have an 'all time favorite' ...

I agree 100% that the AF 8-5-8 SG is an awesome smoke, I don't know that I could say that is my favorite. Especially, when I compare it to the PAM 64 (DocRKS) or a Monte Number 5 (RickMaven).

I give up - I don't think that I have one favorite cigar - I have many favorites 🙂

This is a trick question. It all depends on what kind of mood I am in, what I just ate, what I am drinking, what time of day it is, what type of cigar I am jonesing for (maduro, cameroon, natural, etc..).

At oen point in time I thought the Root by Drew Estate Natural line was my favorite, then came along AVOs Maduro line, then on to HDH Excaliber Prensada Oscuro. Then I ran across the AF Hemingway Signature cigar and it has maintained a place in my top 3 list. Padron maduros are up there as well as LGC Series R #6 maduro. Ashton Aged Maduro is also one of my top 3 cigars, but I can't nail down just one.

If I had to choose one moment in time where I had the perfect cigar experience, it was when I smoked a Romeo y Julieta Churchill ISOM on my patio this past spring. It was a gift and I was in heaven! But, as I can't afford it as a regular smoke, and haven't even been able to find it. Does this qualify it as my favorite? Perhaps or perhaps not.

I as well have many cigars I would classify as all time favorites. Last night I had a well aged Diplomaticos #2 in honor of Segundo Compay a founding member of the Havana Social Club,who passed away yesterday at the age of 95 and I must say it was spectacular but one cigar of all the ones I have had relaxes me like no other. That cigar is the Arturo Fuente 858 Sungrown. X

a cigar smoking friend recently asked me what my "top 5" favorites were ... I quickly told him I couldn't possibly say ... too many good smokes to narrow the list to only 5 ... I told him that if he asked for the top TWENTY five, I'd be OK ...

he said, well, I'd like to see that list ...

So I made one ... 42 cigars long ...

and you know something ??? ... you guys are reminding me of stuff I left off !!!!!!!!

I haven't been smoking good cigars that long enough to have many favorites, as a matter of fact I haven't tried any of the ones listed so far. But if I had to, backed into a corner with a gun to my head, I would say it would be the La Unica Cameroon Series Rubusto #4 but that is just MHO.

Thought about the question and came up with an answer that works for me. I haven't found it yet. I have spent thousands of dollars on 'gars, bought them at places all over the world, am surrounded with humis and cooladors, and am still in quest of "that perfect cigar" that would be my all time favorite.

Now that I think about it, if I ever find it that'll probably be the only cigar I'll buy from then on.

Actually it's more fun to be in search of it.

sure ... it's not a lot different than a "favorite food" ... you're not going to settle on one thing to have for dinner every night for the rest of your life ...

What I had for dinner, whether I had dessert, whether I've got a drink working, how much time I've got for an after dinner smoke, what the weather's like outside, what other demands are on my time and what mood I'm in are all factors that influence my selection ... probably other factors too that I forgot to mention ...
