Hi all - this is just out of curiosity - but where does this term "plume" come from? Before I visited this board I've always heard it called "Bloom", which makes sense to me - "blooming" is a very good description of what the cigar is doing. But then I come here, and most of you are calling it "plume". Isn't a plume just a big feather? I don't get it... 😛

Plume or Bloom, either way you spell it, its still the same. They are both considered on in the same. I am still new to this whole thing called cigar smoking myself.

Definition: Bloom - Also referred to as plume, this is a white film or spots caused by the oils in the tobacco rising to the surface of a cigar's wrapper. It is harmless, and usually indicated a strong tasting smoke.

I prefer "bloom" as well. I think of "plume" as in "plumes" of rich, creamy smoke. Oh yeah.
