Here's my question:

My friend recently gave me a nice sized display humi with 2 large rectangular humidifiers (white stone)......should i use 50/50 or do these stones work diferently than foam allowing me to use just dist. water?

Not knowing anything about stone humidifiers, my SWAG would be that you would still need something to regulate the humidity which you get with PG mixed in the water. I think the stone is just the storage mechanism.

LGC released the Serie R display humidor with "white pumice stone" as the humidifier. Don't know anything else about it, but if this is what you have (white pumice stone), I can try to find out about it from a friend who knows about these things.

the early humidifiers were a metal tube with a bunch of holes in it and it had the pumice stone inside. looked like chalk. it would absorb a lot of water and release it slowly. there was no contol over the humidity in the humidor. when PG was discovered to be a stabilizer to maintain 70%, humidification at proper levels was achieved.
