I went with a friend tonight to a fellow’s house who was supposedly selling a large, old, and high quality selection of cigars for pennies on the dollar…
We drove a half an hour to get there.
All the while, my anticipation peaking… What would it be? Aged Cubans? A flock of Fuentes? A Plethora of Pardons?
It was a COMPLETE waste of gasoline! He had a few good cigars, but the majority were mediocre.
When I pulled an 858 sungrown and an Ashton Aged Maduro from “one” of the humidors, he said, it’s all or nothing. You have to buy all of them. For 4 dollars a piece.
The problem is that came to 1700 bux. The bigger problem is, there were a large number of (two initial imitation) cigars, i.e., if you like xyz, you’ll like these! Also, a bunch of other mediocre cigars, when we brought this to his attention, he was incredulous. He said, no cigar in there is worth less than 4 dollars!! We said, oh no, look at the these, (the “if you like those, you’ll like these” cigars) we said, these go for less than a dollar a piece.
It was a big disappointment… I had birthday bux. I was hoping to SCORE!
This guy lived in a 2 million dollar house… His cigars were mediocre and mixed. He had everything jumbled with everything else. If I ever have such a sale, people would be well advised to attend early and bring money!!
