Dark mottled maduro beli. 5.5 X about 52 ring.
Veiny but good looking construction. Easy/loose pre-light draw with a great aroma. Initial expresso flavor. The wrapper had a sandpaper feel and was salty/spicy from the start. Lots of smoke, rich, full-bodied but fairly mellow. Very uneven burn with some hints of cocoa coming in at 1". By the midpoint the flavors were building but still mellow. Started to get a buzz towards the end. Kinda snuck up on me. Good aftertaste left on the tongue.
The second sample had a tight draw but the flavor profile was the same. Nothing subtle about this but enjoyable all the same.

OK Bill, what is it??

This is your so-called premium. A La Pearla Habana Black Pearl Belicoso.

I picked these up from my local guy for $10.15 each. They can be had for slightly less at CI, but I was surprised at how few really expensive (>$10) maduros are out there. Most of the higher end sticks have other wrapper types.

I think these are really good, but wouldn't pay this much on a regular basis. Fortunately, good deals often come along at auction:)

Nice review. I like this stick a lot but I get mine through cbid for about $3.50 each.

I just won a couple of these babies as part of an LPH sampler. Score!

That's a great deal, but are you sure they were the Belicoso? The vitola can mean as much as 2-3 fold difference in price on these.
