Speaking to reporters in Europe Bush said, "We should never execute anyone who is mentally retarded". .....However, Mario Marquez was executed on the day of Bush's 1995 inauguration. He also approved the executions of: Terry Washington in 1997 and Oliver Cruz in 2000. Who all had I.Q.s below 70. He also authorized the execution of Johnny Paul Penry, who had an I.Q. in the 50s and a mental age of 6 before it was overturned by the Supreme court. ... His justification for this was that people should know the difference between right and wrong regardless of IQ. I don't know if I can buy that. But, if that is what he beleives, why would he say that in Europe.

don't forget, people with iq's higher than your own, are not considered retarded. besides, he is not in europe, he is in a room somewhere with the mission impossible team posing as world leaders. notice, he did not suffer from jet lag.

My, my Bill are you some kind of expert on the near do wells and riff raff of the world? What was your pal, Terry McVeigh's IQ? It had to be over 100. Charlie

Who REALLY gives a rat ass about Europe? They whine and cry about America and our politicians. They look down their filthy noses at our culture. Yet, they are the deepest shade of green that God ever created. Their envy/jelousy has turned to hatred, but they are too scared to admit it. They want so badly to BE America. WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED MORE IN OUR SCANT OVER 200 YEARS THAN THEY HAVE COLLECTIVELY ACHIEVED IN THEIR "RICH" 2000 YEAR HISTORY. They are a joke and I don't give two **** about them. If we pulled out of all the world-wide organizations they would flounder without us. I don't suggest that we should, but if we did we could still kick their smelly asses. Pity them, for they hath no life other than to verbally slam us for being FAR SUPERIOR. You don't see the influx of Americans lined up at their border waiting to get in. Like they say, "It's a nice place to visit..."

Gater, you said it F***'em. we don't need the EU. Who really cares what they think. As for W. he isn't a
c***s***ing lawyer who twists things around and he knows what "is" means. Like MOST people he isn't a great public speaker if that's the criteria for a good president I guess Jesse's your man. Glenn

Glenn and Joe you are both so right on in your replys to the "leftist", and I agree, after all we saved their asses during World War II, or the German flag would be flying in London, Paris, Brussels, etc...! I for one am proud of George W Bush! He doesn't twist and turn and rewrite the truth as he sees it, he is straight forward and will not take a lot of crap from the Euros! Charlie

And I guess that is what you are saying about Bush.

Bill Clinton is not my hero, nor do I claim he was always correct.

I take it from the tone of this board that most of you think the death penalty should include retarded individuals?

Bill, the only reference I have to the above quote if from you. I don't know what context it was taken in, but if you want to split hairs then it could very well be true because it would imply "from this point forward" since it does not include a past tense. As for the issue of retarded individuals being put to death, you need to look at the circumstances. A recent case involved a so-called retarded guy who raped and murdered TWO women. The second one was murdered in order that she wouldn't be an eye witness. He obviously knew right from wrong and chose to do harm. Yes, HE should be put under the same rules as others with higher intelligence, and if that means the chair, so be it. IQ tests are not infallible. How would you define retardation to the point that they were exempt? THis is not a cut and dried issue. Common sense must prevail. But you Liberals don't know the definition of Common Sense unless your Lawyer defines it for you...

And Common Sense defined by the average attorney could not be understood by the average trial juror!
