I just pulled a 5 Vegas out of my humidor and it feels pretty stiff, and the wrapper cracked a bit when i cut it. It is, along with a few others, are on the bottom of the humi still in their cello. I just recalibrated my hygro last week at it shows 70% on the money. Would taking them out of the cello help keep them from what appears to be drying out?

You need to rotate you sticks every once in a while. The celo doesn't matter, it sounds like they are not getting the humidity. Try putting your hygro on the bottom of your humidor to make sure the humidity is getting circulated.

I have found that to be a trait with the 5 Vegas. Although I think they are good sticks, I find the contruction to be inconsistant. I had to pitch one the other day that was so tight it was unpleasnt to smoke. But the one sitting right next to it was fine. And with that thin wrapper they do tend to rip upon cutting and at the foot.

Oh yeah...My cooler-dor is at a constant 68% to 70%

Cello on? or cello off? Hummmm. I have it on for some, and off for others. I've never really noticed a difference 🙂

Has anyone else ever wondered why cello would make NO difference? I didnt think plastic was permeable, and if i wasnt mildly tuned-in to cigar smoking, id think that leaving cello off would make them dry out. But i suppose it doesnt release anything either. Just seems like having it off would allow them to breathe and age better, but that isnt always the case. Oh well, im not a scientist, just a smoker....

In my experience...it doesn't make much difference. I actually prefer to leave the cello to protect the smokes, since even just moving my humi around a little might cause them to shift and wrappers to get damaged inadvertantly.

I actually do both. Just not together. In my humidor the rule is cello off. Seems to make a big difference with a little cedar infusion and a marrying from the other sticks. In my tupperdor it's cello on. If they didn't come withe cello on I try and keep them in my humi because the cello seems to do a number on the unprotected wrappers. But my humi has been pretty full lately and cbid being an addiction (firt step right?!) I've been putting uncelloed sticks in the tupper. Just try and keep them seperate to protect them.
