Has anyone used one of the coolers that they ship Omaha steaks in as a coolerdor? If so how did you set it up and how did it work.

I would think the odor of those foam types would ruin, or at least taint, your smokes. It is not so much the temp control you are after with a coolidor, but rather a large volume container that will hold a relatively steady temp and humidity.

I have a 156 qt coolidor lined with sp. cedar. Works great.

If you are just looking for bulk storeage, temporary or otherwise, you can accomplish about the same thing with a large tupperware/rubbermaid container.

I have a sweater boxador that works great, storing my lower end cigar inventory. I just put cedar from cigar boxes and/or the box itself with a variety of gars in them, and use a small tupperware container with holes drilled in the top and florist foam inside. I think it might work just as well as my hand crafted mahogany humidor! If you are hooked on bidding at CB, you'll need a few!

I used one from Omaha Steaks and it worked okay. I kept the cigars in the boxes they came in and cracked them open just a bit. I put a piece of Oasis about 2"x3". You have to open the lid every couple of days or you will over humidify.

Go to Walmart and spend 20 bucks on 70 quarts of pre-fabbed coolerdor goodness.
At the least, it will look better. My 2 are a nifty dark green to match the carpet in my basement.

I've found the cheapest solution to be the sweater type storage boxes with the 2 clamps on the top from Target for about $3. I get the ones that are about 9 inches high and about 16 inches across and you can get about 4 normal size boxes of cigars plus a few singles on the top. Bundles also fit great in there. a small soap dish with floral foam and 50/50 solution does the trick. Just be careful not to over humidify as the boxes will help with the excess a little. They fit together when they stack too, plus you can see what's inside. I have 12 filled and stacked in my weight room and it works almost as good as my expensive 80- box humi downstairs with the automatic humidification system. Yes, I've been addicted to c-bid for about 3 years now, but it's nice to always have rested cigars to smoke and gift.
