I have a friend who recently took up cigars and all he buys now is $10 gars. I can't disparage him too much as his favorites are Don Carlos and VSG, but I keep telling him there is much cheaper fruit that tastes as sweet. Last night I was reminded of this as I enjoyed a Padron 3000 - one I haven't had in a while. Man - these are SO dang good - just as I remembered. And it retails around here for $4.00. Hard to beat. Now, I like to enjoy a nice PAM or VSG along with everyone else, but these babies remind me that I don't have to fork over a lot of money for a really superb smoke! God bless Padron!

Don't get me wrong...I've got tastes all over the dartboard and can appreciate a FFOX as well as a 4 dollar Ligero.

I agree with you about low dollar sticks and especially the Padron you pointed out. It smokes and behaves like its $10 brothers. In both my wine and cigar hobbies I started at the low end of the cost spectrum and put a lot of effort in finding what I liked and for the most part bargains. I'm now past that stage and into developing my high end tastes. I still have a bunch of my low end discoveries left and on days when I don’t feel like putting a lot of thought into what I smoke I find myself reaching for them. They still make me smile. Here is another one to try ERDM robusto oscoro!!! should be less than $3

But their Maddies is where it's at! The 3k Maddie is my all-day smoke and I get them for just a tad over three bucks a stick.

Got a box of Padron 3Ks a couple months back with extensive age on them, very mellow, must be at least 8 yrs old. I've had a few of them and they are nice and taste live a smooth rich coffee, but they don't have the bite that the fresh ones have. You might really like these. Tell your friend it's time for him to start spending less $$$ and acquiring even better product --- wow---what a concept --- less gets you more ---rumor hath it that there is even product available from an island just to the south that regularly goes for well under the $10 mark......
BTW - I totally concurr with all the good things that have been said regarding the Padron Line --- awesome smokes in and of their own right -- price be damned !!
